The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Bankruptcy Law AI Training Attorney to provide specialized legal expertise for the development and evaluation of AI systems. You will work with bankruptcy legal documents, draft realistic examples of motions and pleadings, explain hypothetical legal issues, and assess model-generated answers against current U.S. bankruptcy law.

This is a remote contractor opportunity for at least 20 hours per week. The advertised pay range is $90-$150 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will combine substantive bankruptcy practice with precise written analysis and feedback that improves the accuracy, clarity, and legal reasoning of AI model outputs.

  • Analyze, review, and annotate bankruptcy legal documents with substantive expert commentary
  • Draft sample motions, pleadings, and court filings representing common and complex bankruptcy proceedings
  • Evaluate hypothetical bankruptcy scenarios and provide well-reasoned written explanations and argumentation
  • Create educational content and model training datasets relevant to bankruptcy practice
  • Assess AI-generated legal answers for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current U.S. bankruptcy law
  • Identify legal nuances and emerging bankruptcy trends that can strengthen training materials
  • Communicate precisely in written and verbal formats to support high-quality AI training input

Required Qualifications

This role requires an accredited U.S. legal education, an active U.S. law license, and recent hands-on experience practicing bankruptcy law. Candidates should be able to analyze complex legal materials and explain their reasoning clearly and concisely.

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Active license to practice law in the United States
  • Three to fifteen years of recent, hands-on bankruptcy law experience
  • Direct experience with bankruptcy filings, court appearances, and advisory work
  • Experience analyzing bankruptcy filings and court documents
  • Experience drafting motions and pleadings and advising on bankruptcy matters
  • Ability to evaluate legal answers under current U.S. bankruptcy law
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Careful attention to legal detail

Helpful Background

The following experience is valuable but not required: judicial clerkship work, particularly with a bankruptcy or federal judge; teaching law or creating legal instructional materials; and editorial work for a legal journal or law review.
