The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an Underpayment and Managed Care Contract Specialist to evaluate AI tools used for managed care contracting and underpayment recovery. You will review underpayment detection alerts, contract compliance outputs, and payment variance analyses for accuracy.

The role combines payer contract interpretation, contract modelling, payment reconciliation, recovery correspondence, KPI tracking, and structured annotation of AI outputs. This is an intermediate-level contractor position for a professional with at least five years of relevant experience.

What You’ll Do

You will assess whether AI-generated analyses accurately reflect payer contracts, reimbursement methodologies, and actual claim payments. You will also help identify recurring underpayment patterns and support recovery activities.

• Review AI-generated underpayment detection alerts for accuracy
• Evaluate payment variance analyses and contract compliance outputs
• Interpret commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid managed care contract terms
• Review fee schedules, carve-outs, OpenTrain provisions, and payment methodologies
• Conduct contract modelling and payment reconciliation
• Identify systematic underpayment patterns
• Prepare underpayment claims and recovery correspondence to payers
• Track underpayment dollars, recovery rates, and payer response rates
• Monitor contract compliance
• Annotate AI outputs and provide structured feedback for training data

Required Qualifications

This opportunity requires substantial experience in healthcare payment variance work or managed care contracting, along with the ability to analyze financial and contractual information carefully. Clear written and verbal English communication is required.

• At least 5 years of experience in underpayment recovery, payment variance analysis, or managed care contracting
• Strong interpretation skills across commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid managed care contracts
• Knowledge of DRG-based, per diem, percentage-of-billed-charges, and fee schedule reimbursement
• Experience with Excel-based financial analysis
• Experience with revenue cycle analytics platforms
• Familiarity with managed care contract management systems
• Comfort reviewing AI-generated compliance and payment variance outputs
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

• CHFP, CRCR, or managed care contracting certification
