The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Technology Transactions Contract Review Attorney to support AI training and evaluation through contract redlining and legal-response assessment. You will work with simulated negotiations, contract scenarios, and AI-generated outputs, applying practical legal judgment to determine whether interpretations and proposed revisions are accurate, useful, and appropriately risk-sensitive.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The role data lists the experience level as entry level, while the stated requirements call for at least three years of in-house technology transactions experience.

What You'll Do

You will combine hands-on contract expertise with structured evaluation work to help improve legal AI systems. The work includes simulated negotiation exercises, response review, rubric development, and collaboration with product and research teams.

• Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises involving technology transactions.
• Review AI responses to contract scenarios and identify legal issues, inaccuracies, and risk concerns.
• Provide precise, actionable expert feedback on AI-generated contract interpretations and proposed revisions.
• Create objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for measuring AI performance on contract tasks.
• Help refine data, guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven contract review solutions.
• Apply consistent legal reasoning to assess whether outputs are accurate, useful, and appropriately risk-sensitive.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary product and research teams.

Requirements

This opportunity is designed for an experienced in-house lawyer with substantial technology transactions expertise and an interest in legal technology. You should be able to translate nuanced legal judgment into clear, consistent feedback that can be used to evaluate AI systems.

• At least three years of in-house experience focused on technology transactions.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating master services agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and data processing agreements.
• Strong contract drafting, review, negotiation, and redlining skills.
• Ability to assess AI-generated contract responses, identify legal risk, and provide actionable feedback.
• Ability to create consistent evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for legal AI systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
• Ability to work effectively with product and research collaborators.

Helpful Background
