The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Legal AI Contract Review Attorney to support the training and evaluation of AI systems used in legal work. You will apply practical technology transactions experience to simulated negotiations, contract review, and assessment of AI responses.

This role is listed at the entry level and is especially suited to attorneys with commercial agreements experience, strong legal judgment, and familiarity with technology-focused transactions. The engagement is part-time, remote, and structured as a contractor position.

What You'll Do

You will translate nuanced contract judgment into clear, actionable feedback that can improve the performance of legal AI systems. Your work will combine contract analysis, simulated negotiation, response evaluation, and development of consistent assessment standards.

  • Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises involving technology transactions.
  • Review AI responses to contract scenarios for accuracy, risk identification, and output precision.
  • Develop objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for contract-related AI performance.
  • Help refine legal-review data, guidance, and best practices with product and research collaborators.
  • Explain contract-based decisions and legal risk assessments clearly and consistently.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. You must also have at least three years of in-house experience focused on technology transactions.

  • Experience negotiating and reviewing MSAs, NDAs, and DPAs
  • Practical contract redlining and simulated negotiation judgment
  • Ability to evaluate AI-generated legal responses
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Meticulous attention to detail and analytical judgment
  • Ability to evaluate legal AI outputs consistently
  • Ability to explain contract decisions and risk assessments clearly
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams

Helpful Background

Prior exposure to AI, legal technology, or training initiatives is helpful. Experience at a corporate law firm in M&A or private-equity fund formation is also relevant.
