This role puts experienced contract professionals at the center of how legal automation is shaped—providing practical, business-focused guidance and detailed edits that teach models to handle real contract risks.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring Contract Review Experts to evaluate AI-generated contract analyses and drafting outputs. You will assess reasoning quality, identify issues in clause interpretation and risk allocation, and produce clear written feedback, redlines, and improved contract language.

Work is remote, hourly contractor-based, and expected to be at least 20+ hours per week. OpenTrain is the hiring organization and manages assignments, quality standards, and payments.

What you'll do

You will review, rate, and improve AI outputs across contract types. Tasks include both evaluative rating work and short-form drafting or rewrite suggestions to fix specific legal problems identified in model responses.

• Review AI-generated contract analyses and drafting outputs for accuracy and defensibility.
• Spot issues in clause interpretation, risk allocation, missing terms, ambiguity, and enforceability.
• Fact-check legal concepts and citations when needed and flag unsupported assertions.
• Write clear explanations, negotiation notes, clause rewrites, and playbook guidance for reviewers and models.
• Evaluate and compare multiple model responses for correctness, clarity, completeness, and practical usefulness.
• Test outputs for misleading certainty, confidentiality risks, and bias in legal recommendations.

Minimum requirements

Candidates must meet the specific legal and experience thresholds below. We will verify qualifications during onboarding and sample tasks.

• JD/LLB or equivalent, or substantial paralegal/contracts experience with strong contract-review provenance.
• 5+ years professional experience in contracts, legal ops, procurement, vendor management, or similar roles.
• Proven ability to assess liability caps, indemnities, warranties, termination rights, payment risk, and IP issues.
• Experience reviewing and redlining MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, and SaaS agreements.
• Comfortable with privacy and security clauses, confidentiality, data processing, breach notification, and audit rights.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency and clear written legal explanation skills.

Preferred background and additional skills

The following experiences are strongly preferred but not strictly required. They help you succeed in an hourly, remote QA workflow and increase the types of assignments you'll be eligible for.

• Prior AI data training, legal QA, knowledge-management, or template-library maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools and version control workflows.
• Proven ability to translate legal risk into clear, practical business guidance for non-lawyer stakeholders.
• Experience delivering consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.

Compensation, schedule, and how it works

This is a contractor, part-time role. Pay is hourly and paid in USD. Assignments involve both evaluation/rating tasks and written redlines or short drafting work.

OpenTrain manages assignments and payments; you will complete onboarding and demonstration tasks before full access to paid projects.

• Hourly pay: USD $40–$100 per hour (rate depends on experience and task type).
• Time requirement: 20+ hours/week.
