About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Contract Redlining Attorney to help train and evaluate AI systems used for legal contract review. You will work with commercial agreements and simulated negotiation scenarios, assess how models interpret contract language and identify risk, and provide structured feedback that improves precision and legal judgment. This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity for an early-career transactional lawyer interested in the intersection of legal practice and AI training.

What you will do
- Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises involving commercial agreements.
- Review AI responses to contract scenarios and identify strengths, weaknesses, risks, and inaccuracies.
- Apply objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria consistently across contract-review tasks.
- Translate legal analysis into actionable feedback that improves model performance and output precision.
- Help refine data, guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven contract review solutions while collaborating with product and research teams.

Required skills
- 1-3 years of transactional legal experience in a law firm or in-house setting.
- Hands-on exposure to commercial agreements such as master services agreements and nondisclosure agreements.
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical reasoning, and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain legal judgment clearly and convert it into consistent evaluation feedback.
- Interest in legal technology, AI evaluation, or technology-enabled legal work.

Helpful background
Prior exposure to AI, legal technology, or training initiatives is helpful. Experience or an internship at a corporate law firm, including work touching mergers and acquisitions or fund formation, is also relevant.
