The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Tax Preparation and AI Evaluation CPA to support AI training through expert review of tax preparation and advisory content. You will apply professional tax judgment to personal and small-business returns, explain complex tax concepts, and evaluate machine-generated tax advice against defined standards.
This opportunity is open to eligible professionals in the United States. Compensation is $80–$110 USD per hour, and the engagement is structured as remote, part-time contract work.

What You'll Do
Prepare and review Form 1040 personal income tax returns for accuracy and compliance.
Prepare and review Schedule C, S-Corporation 1120-S, and Partnership 1065 returns.
Advise on tax optimization strategies and explain filing status, deadlines, and required forms.
Verify documentation supporting tax filings and advisory conclusions.
Assess AI-generated tax advice and related content against evaluation rubrics.
Provide concise feedback that supports AI model improvement.
Develop and refine grading criteria for tax-related outputs.
Track relevant changes in federal and state tax codes.
Required Qualifications
This role requires substantial professional tax expertise and an active license. Candidates should be able to apply current tax rules accurately while communicating technical subjects clearly to a range of audiences.
Active CPA license in good standing with eligibility to practice in the United States
At least five years of professional tax preparation or advisory experience
Extensive experience with personal and small-business tax returns
Experience preparing and filing Form 1040, Schedule C, S-Corporation 1120-S, and Partnership 1065 returns
Current knowledge of federal tax regulations and at least one state's income tax requirements
Ability to evaluate AI-generated tax advice and create clear, tax-specific rubrics
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Helpful Background
Experience with AI evaluation can help you contribute quickly, though the core requirement is professional tax knowledge. Familiarity with professional tax preparation software is also useful.
Experience evaluating AI-generated outputs or red-teaming
Experience drafting rubrics and scoring criteria
Familiarity with ProSeries, Lacerte, or Drake professional tax software
