About Financial Reporting AI Evaluation
AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Expert contributors create examples, review model outputs, and develop evaluation standards so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results.
In this role, your accounting judgment will help distinguish authentic professional reasoning from generic textbook knowledge or CPA exam-level recall. Your work will cover both US GAAP and PCAOB standards and IFRS and ISA standards.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking senior accounting professionals to build evaluation tasks for AI systems in financial reporting, audit, and technical accounting. You will design realistic accounting scenarios, prepare reference outputs, and write rubrics that capture how senior accountants and auditors approach complex decisions.
The engagement is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The listed rate is $70 to $80 per hour.

What You'll Do
You will create detailed, professionally grounded tasks spanning financial reporting, technical accounting research, audit and assurance, complex transaction accounting, and internal controls and SOX compliance. Your deliverables should reflect the judgment expected from experienced accounting and audit professionals.
Construct scenarios for financial statement preparation and technical accounting research.
Develop tasks involving external and internal audit processes and audit and assurance work.
Develop work involving internal controls and SOX compliance.
Use accounting tools and workflows involving SAP, Oracle, consolidation software, and audit management platforms.
Incorporate research tools such as Bloomberg Tax and RIA Checkpoint where relevant.
Apply revenue recognition, lease accounting, and consolidation methodologies to the appropriate standards track.
Produce reference financial statements, technical accounting memos, audit workpapers, and internal control assessments.
Author rubrics that distinguish authentic accounting judgment from generic or exam-level responses.
Required Qualifications
This opportunity requires substantial professional experience despite being classified as entry level in the project data. Applicants should be senior accounting or audit professionals with direct ownership of important reporting, audit, or technical accounting work.
At least 5 years of experience as an accountant, controller, or audit partner.
Experience at a major accounting firm or corporation, including Big Four firms or corporate controller or CFO environments.
Direct ownership of financial reporting, audit engagements, or technical accounting matters.
Fluency with accounting tools and accounting technology workflows.
Understanding of SEC regulatory reporting and audit standards.
CPA, ACCA, or CA credential strongly preferred.
Helpful Background
Experience creating rubrics or training materials for AI evaluation is helpful. Familiarity with professional accounting documentation and the ability to express nuanced expert judgment will support success in this work.
