The Accounting AI Training SME Role
OpenTrain is hiring an Accounting AI Training Subject Matter Expert to review AI-generated accounting and finance responses, create expert accounting content, and assess the quality of model reasoning. The role focuses on journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, financial statement presentation, internal controls, and related business scenarios.
You will write precise prompts and gold-standard accounting outputs, check technical claims for accuracy, and rank model responses for correctness, clarity, completeness, and adherence to GAAP or IFRS.

What You'll Do
Review AI-generated accounting answers and provide precise written feedback on errors, assumptions, and reasoning quality.
Create journal entries, explanations, close checklists, reconciliation logic, and scenario analyses as expert accounting content.
Evaluate bookkeeping logic, accruals, reconciliations, financial statement presentation, and control weaknesses in model outputs.
Compare multiple responses and rate them for correctness, clarity, completeness, and best-practice accounting treatment.
Identify misleading guidance, unsafe assumptions, and weak explanations across business scenarios.
Produce high-quality reference answers that reflect real-world accounting practice and can be reviewed for auditability.
Requirements and Preferred Background
This opportunity requires substantial accounting knowledge and the ability to explain technical corrections clearly. The structured experience level is listed as entry level, but the role description requires at least five years of professional accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of professional accounting experience in public accounting, industry, shared services, or advisory.
Strong command of revenue and expense recognition, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory basics, payroll basics, and tax awareness.
Ability to prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables with auditability in mind.
Solid understanding of financial statements and common classification or presentation issues.
Familiarity with internal controls, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
Strong accounting judgment across journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
Professional English writing ability at a C1 level or higher.
Prior experience with AI data training, accounting QA, audit review, or technical accounting writing is strongly preferred.
CPA, ACCA, CMA, or a local equivalent is helpful.
Experience evaluating AI-generated content or technical accounting explanations is helpful.
Comfort working independently in an hourly remote contractor workflow across time zones.
Compensation and Location
This role is paid hourly. Country-based compensation variants are advertised from $35 to $65 per hour, depending on location.
