About AI training and this work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that helps modern AI learn. Contributors prepare and review language examples—transcribing audio, translating content, annotating tone and speaker information—so models understand real-world language.

This role focuses on Tatar-language audio and related materials. Your work will directly shape how multilingual AI models transcribe, translate, and interpret Tatar speech and nuance.

The role

You will be a contractor on part-time assignments to transcribe, translate, analyze, and annotate Tatar audio and video for AI training datasets. Tasks combine precise transcription, contextual translation into English, linguistic analysis, and documentation to improve dataset quality.

  • Employment type: Contractor, part-time
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
  • Location: Must be located in the United States
  • Data type: Audio (video/audio with timestamps and speaker labels)
  • Label types: Transcription, translation/localization

What you will do

Your day-to-day work is hands-on language annotation: accurately converting spoken Tatar into text, marking speaker turns and timestamps, translating content to English with attention to context, and annotating emotional or tonal nuance where present. You will also produce clear task documentation and provide detailed feedback to improve data quality.

  • Transcribe Tatar-language audio/video with accurate timestamps and speaker identification
  • Translate complex materials between Tatar and English with contextual accuracy
  • Analyze grammar, tone, and conceptual meaning and annotate linguistic phenomena
  • Detect and label emotional and tonal nuances in multimedia content
  • Write clear documentation for language-data tasks and suggest quality improvements

Requirements

All listed requirements come from the project brief and are required for successful applicants.

  • Native or near-native fluency in Tatar (tt) and strong English (en)
  • Experience transcribing or annotating spoken language data
  • Strong translation ability between Tatar and English with contextual sensitivity
  • Advanced linguistic analysis skills: tone, grammar, and meaning
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when marking timestamps and speakers
  • Clear written communication and comfort working independently with digital tools
  • Ability to commit 20+ hours per week as a contractor based in the United States

Helpful background (preferred)

These qualifications are not required but will help you succeed and move into higher-responsibility tasks.

  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or previous language-data annotation projects
  • Academic or professional background in linguistics, translation studies, or related fields
  • Familiarity with documenting annotation guidelines and producing quality feedback

Pay, schedule, and logistics

Compensation is hourly; pay varies by assignment. The posted range is $15–$95 per hour, with opportunities up to $95/hr depending on task complexity and expertise. Work is remote and scheduled around your availability, but you must be located in the United States and able to commit 20+ hours weekly.

  • Pay type: Hourly (PAY_PER_HOUR)
  • Pay range: $15–$95 per hour (up to $95/hr)
  • Schedule: Flexible part-time contractor work, 20+ hours/week
