The role — Uyghur bilingual transcription & analysis

OpenTrain is recruiting a contractor to transcribe and analyze Uyghur-language video content for AI training. You will produce precise timestamped transcriptions, label named entities and linguistic structures, and provide nuanced assessments of speaker tone and emotion.

This is part-time contractor work (expected commitment 20+ hours/week). The project guidance also emphasizes maintaining a consistent pace (the role description references working at least 15 hours/week). Work is fully remote and requires strong independent discipline.

What you'll do (key responsibilities)

Deliver accurate, timestamped transcriptions and detailed linguistic annotations that help train speech recognition and multilingual models. Provide contextual explanations of challenging words or phrases and evaluate speaker tone and emotional cues.

• Transcribe Uyghur audio from video with precise timestamps and speaker markers where applicable.
• Annotate named entities and relevant classification labels (entity/NER tasks).
• Describe speaker emotionality, tone, and conversational intent for AI training.
• Analyze grammar, syntax, and linguistic structures in Uyghur and compare/contextualize with English when required.
• Explain conceptual meanings and contextual usage of complex phrases to support advanced linguistic tasks.
• Maintain a consistent workflow to meet weekly time and quality expectations (20+ hrs/week typical).

Requirements — what you must bring

• Ability to interpret grammar, tone, and context in multimedia content and explain linguistic phenomena clearly.

• Prior exposure to language data annotation, localization, translation, AI, machine learning, or speech recognition is helpful but not strictly required.
