About AI Training and Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People with software engineering expertise help prepare and evaluate examples, review model outputs, and rate responses so AI systems become more useful, accurate, and reliable.

This opportunity includes experience with computer code programming labeling workflows and evaluation rating tasks. Your knowledge of productivity software and desktop telemetry systems can support work on how AI systems understand and assess technical software concepts.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Apply desktop software and programming expertise to evaluation work
  • Work remotely with flexible scheduling around a 20-hour weekly commitment

The Role

As a Software Engineer focused on desktop systems, you will help design and scale a cross-platform time intelligence application for MacOS and Windows. The software is built for a globally distributed workforce and is used daily by thousands of professionals.

You will architect reliable, intelligent infrastructure that operates in the background while contributing your expertise to productivity software, desktop telemetry systems, computer code programming labeling workflows, and evaluation rating tasks.

  • Role title: Software Engineer (Electron.js)
  • Work arrangement: Remote
  • Experience level: Expert
  • Subject matter: Productivity software and desktop telemetry systems
  • Expected commitment: At least 20 hours per week
  • Expected project duration: 6+ months
  • Compensation listed: $130,000 to $160,000 USD per year

What You’ll Work On

You will work on the architecture, performance, and reliability of a cross-platform desktop agent while collaborating with product, design, and backend teams.

  • Architect and evolve an Electron.js desktop agent optimized for performance and minimal resource usage.
  • Build real-time timekeeping systems with precise event tracking and background execution.
  • Design system-level signal collection for keyboard, mouse, and application usage with strong privacy and efficiency guarantees.
  • Develop offline-first data pipelines with reliable background synchronization and conflict resolution.
  • Integrate distributed backend services and internal APIs for analytics and reporting.
  • Improve runtime performance, memory efficiency, and fault tolerance.
  • Ship features that directly affect user productivity.

Required Qualifications

This is an expert-level opportunity for an engineer who has built production-grade desktop applications and can reason carefully about performance, operating-system behavior, and distributed systems.

  • 3 or more years of experience building production-grade desktop applications with Electron.js.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Experience designing cross-platform systems for MacOS and Windows with consistent behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time tracking, event streams, or activity monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with OS-level APIs for capturing user or system interactions.
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization in desktop environments.
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to reason about edge cases in distributed and offline systems.
  • Experience with computer code programming labeling workflows.
  • Experience with evaluation rating tasks.
  • Subject matter expertise in productivity software and desktop telemetry systems.
  • Native or bilingual English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is preferred for this role and aligns closely with the desktop systems being developed.

  • Experience building productivity, monitoring, or telemetry-driven applications.
  • Knowledge of native OS integrations, including permissions, background processes, and system hooks.
  • Understanding of security and privacy considerations in user activity tracking.
  • Familiarity with Electron auto-update systems and release management.
