About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. OpenTrain is the leading platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping contributors discover projects, build a professional profile, and grow their experience in this fast-moving field.

As a JavaScript AI Training Engineer, you will contribute specialized software expertise to work that helps AI systems produce more accurate, maintainable, and useful code.

  • Fully remote contract opportunity
  • Build experience in AI training and technical model evaluation
  • Create a profile that showcases your AI training and data-labeling work

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Contributors review model-generated content, compare competing responses, write improved examples, and provide detailed feedback that helps models learn better behavior.

In this project, your JavaScript knowledge will support code evaluation and response improvement. Your feedback will focus on correctness, reasoning, clarity, prompt adherence, and practical technical quality.

  • Review and rate AI-generated technical responses
  • Write improved code and explanations for training examples
  • Work remotely with flexible scheduling around your availability

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an intermediate-level JavaScript AI Training Engineer to review complex AI-generated code and explanations, generate improved responses, and evaluate reasoning quality across competing model outputs.

The work includes validating frontend and backend JavaScript behavior, including asynchronous patterns and state management. You will need to identify subtle logic errors, conceptual mistakes, and edge cases while explaining your conclusions clearly in English.

  • Experience level: Intermediate
  • Subject matter: JavaScript code review
  • Work type: Part-time contract
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Language: English
  • Eligible country variants: BD, BT, BR, KH, DE, IN, ID, MY, NP, PK, SG, LK, TH, PH, US, TL, and VN

What You'll Do

You will assess whether AI-generated JavaScript solutions are technically correct, understandable, and appropriate for the requested task. You will also produce stronger alternatives and concise, educational explanations that demonstrate reliable methods.

  • Review JavaScript code and explanations for correctness, readability, and performance
  • Write improved solutions and pedagogical explanations
  • Compare multiple model responses and rate reasoning quality and accuracy
  • Identify logic errors, conceptual mistakes, and edge-case issues
  • Explain closures, async/await, and the JavaScript event loop clearly
  • Validate frontend and backend behavior, including asynchronous patterns and state management
  • Review React or Node.js behavior with attention to maintainability and failure handling
  • Critically validate LLM-generated code suggestions before accepting them

Required Qualifications

This role requires professional JavaScript experience and the ability to evaluate code at a deep technical level. Strong written English is essential because your feedback must be concise, precise, and educational.

  • At least 2 years of professional JavaScript experience in production environments
  • Deep knowledge of closures, async/await, prototype-based inheritance, and the JavaScript event loop
  • Strong code review skills and experience evaluating technical correctness
  • Excellent English writing ability
  • Hands-on experience with React, Node.js, or another major JavaScript framework or runtime
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field
  • Ability to diagnose correctness and edge-case issues in JavaScript code

Helpful Background

The following experience can strengthen your application and help you assess a wider range of technical responses, although the core requirements above remain central to the role.

  • Prior AI data training, annotation, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content
  • Contributions or merged pull requests in JavaScript or TypeScript open-source projects
  • Familiarity with Webpack, Vite, Rollup, or similar bundlers and tooling
  • Experience reviewing typed API layers, DTOs, or schema-driven designs
  • Frontend-backend integration experience
  • Background debugging asynchronous JavaScript behavior

Schedule, Pay, and Contract Details

This is fully remote, hourly contractor work estimated at approximately 20 hours per week for 1 to 3 months. Scheduling is flexible, allowing you to fit the project around other commitments.

Hourly compensation varies by country variant. The listing describes rates of up to $25, $35, or $60 USD per hour, with the listed maximum at $60 per hour.
