About OpenTrain AI

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We hire and contract contributors to create the training data and human feedback that modern AI systems learn from.

Working with OpenTrain means joining a fast-growing, remote-friendly industry where contributors shape how cutting-edge AI behaves. This role is contracted by OpenTrain AI and fully remote.

About AI training work

AI training combines human expertise with model-driven workflows: people write examples, correct outputs, and judge model behavior so the AI improves. For coding-focused projects, contributors supply high-quality code snippets, debug model-generated code, and produce labeled examples that teach models to write and fix programs reliably.

The role

You will work on a long-term JavaScript training project producing and validating code examples the model will learn from. The contract runs about 6 months and expects regular contribution of 20–40 hours per week with flexible hours and fully remote work.

After you submit a proposal you will receive a JavaScript coding assessment to complete as part of screening. Pay is by the hour at USD 6.90/hour. Employment type: contractor, part-time.

What you'll do

  • Write short programs and code snippets in JavaScript based on clear prompts and task instructions.
  • Debug and correct AI-generated JavaScript so outputs meet functional and style expectations.
  • Create accurate, well-documented training examples and annotations for model consumption.
  • Refine and optimize code snippets for clarity, correctness, and performance where applicable.
  • Follow provided coding standards and labeling guidelines to ensure consistent dataset quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on JavaScript.
  • Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize JavaScript code in real projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective written communication in English.
  • Stable internet connection and reliable electricity to support consistent remote work.
  • Availability to commit 20–40 hours per week for the 6-month project duration.
  • Complete a JavaScript coding assessment after submitting your proposal as part of screening.

Who should apply

Experienced JavaScript developers who enjoy teaching models through clear examples and careful review should apply. This role suits contractors seeking flexible, part-time remote work while contributing directly to how AI systems learn to code.

  • Developers comfortable writing concise snippets and explaining fixes in plain English.
  • People who can work independently, meet time commitments, and follow detailed guidelines.
  • Note: candidates with under 2 years of professional experience may receive a lower qualification score during screening.

How the process works

Submit your proposal through OpenTrain. After submission you will receive a coding assessment in JavaScript; successful completion is required to move forward. If accepted, you will be onboarded as a contractor and begin contributing according to the project schedule.

  • Role type: contractor, part-time; pay: USD 6.90 per hour (paid per hour worked).
  • Flexible scheduling within the 20–40 hrs/week commitment; remote work from anywhere is permitted.
  • Follow project guidelines, complete tasks and assessments, and communicate with the remote team as required.
