About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people with high-impact annotation projects so they can start and grow careers teaching AI — from entry-level work to specialist roles.

Why AI Training Matters

AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building artificial intelligence: people prepare and review the examples that modern models learn from. This role lets you directly improve the quality of datasets used for research, tools, and educational content in cutting-edge software and development domains.

Work is 100% remote, often flexible and part-time, and accessible to many skill levels: specialist projects like this one pay more for deep domain expertise.

The Role

We are seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) based in India to perform specialized labeling tasks in exactly one selected computer science or software development category. As a Labeler you will review, categorize, and annotate technical content to ensure high accuracy and clarity for downstream learning models, educational materials, and tooling.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Pay: $25 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
  • Expected commitment: 20+ hours/week (see interview requirement for exact-hours instruction)

What You'll Do

Typical tasks include reviewing code and technical passages, assigning labels or categories, writing short corrective responses or explanations, and following detailed annotation guidelines to ensure consistency and high quality.

  • Annotate and categorize programming and software-development content
  • Write and refine brief prompt/response style annotations where requested
  • Follow project-specific guidelines and quality standards
  • Pass regular quality checks and communicate issues to project leads

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in the single category you select
  • You may apply for only one category from the list above

Interview, Test, and Interview Questions

All applicants will undergo a live interview and a coding/skill test at the start of the interview. Dishonesty during the interview or test will result in a permanent ban from the OpenTrain AI platform.

During the interview you will be asked specific questions and your answers will be recorded as part of your application. Provide clear, accurate responses.

  • You must complete a live coding/skill test and live interview to be considered
  • Required interview responses (your answers must be provided during the interview):
  • 1) Which category you are applying for (only one)
  • 2) Your highest level of education
  • 3) How many years of experience you have in the selected category
  • 4) Exact hours per week you can commit if hired (provide a narrow numeric range or exact number, e.g., "20-25 hours per week")

How It Works & How To Apply

This is a contractor, part-time role paid hourly. Projects use a variety of annotation tools (labeling software listed as 'OTHER') and may require writing short prompt-style responses as part of the work.
