About AI training work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human side of building artificial intelligence: people prepare, correct, and evaluate examples so models learn to replicate real-world expertise.

This role focuses on creating coding and systems-level datasets and evaluating model outputs so models understand Operating Systems concepts and troubleshooting workflows accurately.

The role

We are looking for an Operating Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in India with C1-level English to help generate, review, and refine AI training data about traditional Operating Systems management.

You will document and explain OS concepts, create high-quality examples and scripts, and review model outputs and corrections so training data is precise, accurate, and usable by engineers and models.

• Contract, part-time (contractor) — less than 20 hours per week
• Pay: USD $25 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
• Work is remote but candidates must be located in India

What you'll do

Produce and polish training examples, step-by-step workflows, and scripted solutions that reflect real-world OS administration tasks.

Review and evaluate model-generated responses and human annotations to ensure technical accuracy and clarity.

• Write and document scripts and code snippets (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for dataset examples
• Create troubleshooting guides and performance-optimization scenarios for Linux, Windows, or Unix systems
• Evaluate and rate candidate/model responses for correctness and clarity (label types: COMPUTER_PROGRAMMING_CODING, EVALUATION_RATING)
• Document corrections and clarifications to improve dataset quality and consistency

Requirements

You must meet all location and core expertise requirements to be considered.

We will verify experience and conduct a technical screening as part of the hiring process.

• Located in India (required)
• C1-level English proficiency (required)
• 7+ years professional experience managing and configuring Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, or Unix)
• Strong foundation in OS principles: processes, kernel management, resource allocation, performance optimization
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
• Familiarity with system performance monitoring tools (htop, top, ps, Task Manager)
• Knowledge of OS-level security practices and patch management
• Excellent documentation skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently

Hours, pay and employment type

This is a contract, part-time role expected to be less than 20 hours per week. During the interview you must state the exact number of hours per week you can commit if hired.

Compensation is USD $25 per hour, paid per hour as a contractor.
