About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Specialists create, review, and improve examples so AI models can produce more accurate and useful results in real-world situations.
For technical projects, this may include documenting procedures, evaluating responses, reviewing code or scripts, and explaining complex workflows. Your careful feedback can directly shape how advanced AI systems understand and communicate about Operating Systems.
Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
Apply practical technical expertise to model training data
Work remotely with a flexible part-time schedule
Produce precise explanations and evaluations
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an Operating Systems Subject Matter Expert based in India with C1-level English proficiency. You will contribute to AI training dataset development by documenting, explaining, and refining tasks related to traditional Operating Systems management.
Your expertise will support datasets covering core Operating Systems concepts, troubleshooting workflows, scripting tasks, and real-world technical scenarios. You will also review, clarify, and document corrections to ensure training data is clear, accurate, and technically precise.
Role type: Part-time contractor
Experience level listed for the project: Entry level
Required professional experience: 7+ years managing and configuring Operating Systems
Workload: Less than 20 hours per week
Location: India
Language: English at C1 level
Rate: $25 USD per hour
What You’ll Do
You will use hands-on knowledge of Windows, Linux, or Unix environments to help create reliable technical training material. The work requires both technical depth and the ability to explain decisions clearly for accurate AI model evaluation.
Document Operating Systems management concepts and procedures
Explain and refine troubleshooting workflows
Create high-quality datasets involving scripting and system administration tasks
Review technical training data for clarity, accuracy, and precision
Identify and document corrections to existing material
Address scenarios involving system performance, security, configuration, and optimization
Evaluate complex technical problems and explain solutions effectively
Required Expertise
Applicants should have a strong foundation in traditional Operating Systems principles and substantial professional experience managing and configuring Windows, Linux, or Unix systems. Strong documentation skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail are essential.
7+ years of professional Operating Systems management and configuration experience
Experience with OS troubleshooting, configuration, and real-world optimization tasks
In-depth knowledge of system processes, kernel management, and resource allocation
Proficiency with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or comparable scripting languages
Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox, or similar virtualization technologies
Familiarity with htop, ps, top, Task Manager, or comparable performance monitoring tools
Understanding of OS-level security practices and patch management
Strong analytical skills and precise technical communication
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Location in India and C1-level English proficiency
Technical Interview and Skill Assessment
At the start of the interview, candidates will be told that a technical or skill test and a live interview are required for consideration. Candidates must answer honestly and represent their experience accurately. Dishonesty during the interview will result in a permanent ban from the OpenTrain AI platform.
The interview will collect the candidate’s highest level of education, total years of experience managing and configuring Operating Systems, and exact weekly availability. Availability must be stated as a specific number or defined range of hours, not an open-ended estimate.
Explain how you would diagnose and resolve high CPU usage and unresponsive services on a Linux server
Write a Bash or PowerShell script that monitors server disk usage and alerts when usage exceeds 90%
Describe how you would secure a newly installed Windows Server before production deployment
Discuss your experience with OS troubleshooting, configurations, and optimization
Provide your highest education level
State your total years managing and configuring Operating Systems
State the exact number of hours per week you can commit if hired
