OpenTrain AI is hiring a System Administrator Subject Matter Expert in India to contribute to the development of high-quality AI training datasets. OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping people use their expertise to shape how modern AI systems work.
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review examples, explain technical workflows, evaluate model outputs, and correct errors so AI systems can understand and reproduce accurate real-world scenarios.
In this role, your System Administration knowledge will help create datasets covering practical infrastructure work, technical documentation, troubleshooting, scripting, security, and operational best practices.
OpenTrain AI is seeking a System Administrator Subject Matter Expert with strong practical experience and C1-level English proficiency. You will review, document, and explain traditional System Administration tasks and workflows so AI models can accurately understand and replicate real-world infrastructure scenarios.
You will also review and refine corrections in training data, ensuring that technical explanations are clear, accurate, and aligned with established System Administration practices.
You will translate hands-on System Administration knowledge into precise explanations and high-quality training examples. The work requires careful evaluation of technical content and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
Interview and technical assessment topics include troubleshooting slow or unreliable web servers, automating system backups with Bash or PowerShell, and securing newly deployed Linux servers in production environments. Applicants should be prepared to explain their reasoning and demonstrate technical depth.
This opportunity is intended for an experienced System Administrator, despite the structured listing being marked as entry level. Candidates must meet the professional experience and technical requirements below and be able to work independently with close attention to detail.
A technical or skills test and a live interview are required before a candidate can be considered. The interview will also confirm your education, total System Administration experience, and exact weekly availability. Candidates must provide a specific weekly commitment rather than a broad estimate.
Apply if you have substantial hands-on experience managing systems and can clearly explain how you approach complex infrastructure problems. The strongest candidates will be able to connect practical troubleshooting experience with structured, technically accurate documentation.
You should be comfortable discussing major infrastructure projects, real-world incidents, scripting and automation decisions, and production security practices during the interview.
The process includes a live interview and a technical or skills test focused on System Administration knowledge. During the interview, you will be asked about your highest level of education, your total years of System Administration experience, and the exact number of hours per week you can commit if selected.
You should answer all interview questions honestly and demonstrate your own knowledge. OpenTrain AI will evaluate responses for clarity, accuracy, and depth before making a hiring decision.
