OpenTrain is the leading platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers collect verified experience, discover specialized projects, and grow a durable portfolio of AI-training work without rebuilding proof of work on every platform.
Our community powers the human side of modern AI — the annotations, ratings, and expert feedback that let models learn from real people. OpenTrain supports remote, flexible gigs across skill levels, plus opportunities that reward subject-matter expertise.
About this role
We’re hiring a Cloud Infrastructure AI Training Architect to design and evaluate reinforcement-learning environments and review model outputs for cloud infrastructure tasks. You will help models learn from structured human expertise by writing clear feedback, applying deterministic validation tests, and documenting evidence-based judgments.
This is a contractor, part-time role suitable for people who can work independently and bring real-world cloud infrastructure experience to AI training work.
What you’ll do
Evaluate model outputs against project rubrics and document evidence-based judgments.
Review source materials and model responses for technical accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
Explain decisions clearly in written feedback so model behavior can be improved.
Create RL environments, deterministic validation tests, and golden reference solutions.
Maintain consistency and high quality across repeated review and evaluation tasks.
Requirements
You must be fluent in English and able to follow detailed instructions, apply rubrics consistently, and write clear, well-reasoned feedback.
Senior-level cloud infrastructure or platform engineering experience, including personal ownership of a production platform.
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalable APIs, IAM, private networking, and observability.
Experience with infrastructure automation, debugging containerized environments, and a relevant programming language.
Ability to create RL environments, deterministic validation tests, and golden reference solutions.
Preferred: experience with Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, or chaos engineering.
Who should apply
OpenTrain lists this role under an entry-level experience level, but the technical requirements call for senior cloud infrastructure expertise. Apply if you have hands-on ownership of production platforms and the skills listed above.
This role is ideal for engineers and architects who want to shape how AI models reason about cloud systems and who enjoy precise, repeatable evaluation work.
Schedule, pay, and logistics
Time commitment: the listing references both 15+ hours/week and a 20+ hours/week requirement; expect a multi-week part-time contractor commitment (confirm hours during onboarding).
Compensation: $60–$130 per hour. The project lists estimated earnings of $9,600–$20,800 based on the posted schedule and duration.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Location: Remote, worldwide (English required).
Data type: computer code / programming; label types include coding evaluation and ratings.
How it works
You’ll work as a remote contractor on AI training projects: read project instructions, complete evaluation tasks in the provided workflow, and submit written feedback and ratings. Tasks emphasize repeatable judgments and clear rationale so model teams can use your work to improve behavior.
To apply, create or use your OpenTrain profile, submit your experience, and apply to the role. Short technical onboarding and sample tasks will verify fit before paid work begins.
