OpenTrain AI is the leading platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers discover projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow into durable careers teaching AI — all while working remotely and flexibly.
OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. You will work directly with our team to produce linguistic deliverables that shape how AI systems understand and generate Sanskrit.
Why AI Training Work Matters
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors prepare, translate, and evaluate examples that modern AI models learn from — including text in classical and modern languages.
This work is remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects require language skill and attention to detail rather than formal tech experience. By contributing, you help preserve and teach Sanskrit while directly influencing how AI handles this language.
The Role
We are recruiting a Sanskrit Language Specialist to support translation, review, proofreading, content creation, and QA for Sanskrit language deliverables. This contract, part-time role is expected to take less than 20 hours per week and is remote.
Tasks will cover classical and modern Sanskrit usage, contextual interpretation of texts, and creation of educational and cultural materials in Sanskrit. Work will include evaluation and rating tasks that ensure linguistic quality.
What You'll Do
Translate Sanskrit texts with attention to grammatical accuracy and clear modern rendering.
Review and proofread translations and original Sanskrit content for clarity, precision, and fidelity to source material.
Develop high-quality Sanskrit content for educational, cultural, or digital platforms.
Interpret and contextualize classical Sanskrit literature for modern audiences and downstream uses.
Advise on effective, appropriate Sanskrit language use in contemporary settings.
Assist with learning materials and other language-related deliverables.
Participate in quality assurance and evaluation/rating tasks to maintain consistent standards.
Requirements
You must demonstrate advanced Sanskrit proficiency, including strong command of grammar and syntax, and experience translating, writing, or editing Sanskrit content. The role requires careful attention to linguistic detail and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Advanced Sanskrit grammar and syntax knowledge (required).
Proven experience in translation, writing, or editing Sanskrit materials.
Skill in proofreading for clarity, precision, and accuracy.
Comfort interpreting classical Sanskrit literature and contextualizing meanings.
Ability to manage time and deliver work independently on a remote contract.
Familiarity with digital document editing and collaboration tools.
Helpful Background
Ideal candidates may have academic training in Sanskrit, linguistics, or related fields and experience creating or teaching Sanskrit language courses. Prior involvement in cultural or educational projects using classical languages is a plus but not required.
Academic background in Sanskrit, linguistics, or related disciplines (preferred).
Experience developing or delivering Sanskrit language courses (helpful).
Previous work on cultural or educational language projects (helpful).
Compensation, Schedule, and Labels
This is a part-time contractor role with an expected time commitment of less than 20 hours per week. Pay is hourly, range $45–$95 USD per hour. Work will involve text-focused tasks including translation/localization, text generation and summarization, and evaluation/rating.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Time commitment: Less than 20 hours/week (flexible scheduling).
Payment: Hourly, USD $45–$95/hr.
Data type: Text. Labeling tasks include TRANSLATION_LOCALIZATION, TEXT_GENERATION, TEXT_SUMMARIZATION, EVALUATION_RATING.
