OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people start and grow careers teaching AI by bringing opportunities, portfolio building, and project experience into one place.
As the hiring organization for this role, OpenTrain offers work that fits flexible schedules and remote-first collaboration while helping contributors build verifiable AI training experience they can use across projects.
Why AI Training Matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human work that guides how modern models behave. Everyday tasks include evaluating model responses, rating outputs against rubrics, and improving datasets so models become more accurate and culturally appropriate.
This role places you at the center of that work for Romanian-language projects — you will shape how models understand and produce Romanian while helping maintain high quality across contributors and workflows.
The Role — What You'll Do
You will lead quality and consistency for Romanian AI training projects, reviewing both AI outputs and trainer QA work, and helping the team improve processes and onboarding.
Review Romanian AI-generated text and trainer QA evaluations for rubric adherence and overall quality.
Identify issues in grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, register, tone, fluency, terminology, and cultural appropriateness.
Provide precise written feedback and escalate recurring or critical quality problems.
Maintain and update style guides, FAQs, quality notes, trackers, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
Support onboarding and training calls for trainers and QAs and help manage contributor activation and workflow consistency.
Communicate project updates to trainers and QAs and contribute to process improvements for Romanian-language QA work.
Requirements — What You Must Have
We need someone with strong Romanian language skills, experience evaluating language work, and the ability to work with remote teams and common collaboration tools.
Native or near-native Romanian proficiency with excellent reading and writing skills.
Strong English communication for guidelines, coordination, and written feedback.
Experience in Romanian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
Deep knowledge of Romanian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, tone, register, regional usage, and cultural context.
Ability to evaluate Romanian content against detailed rubrics and spot mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, incorrect diacritics, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
Experience working with remote teams and tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
Intermediate experience level (as listed) with the ability to take ownership of QA tasks and documentation.
Helpful Background
These qualifications are not required but will make you especially competitive for the lead role.
Degree in Romanian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Experience leading or supporting trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QA teams.
Familiarity with AI training concepts: data annotation, rubric-based LLM QA, RLHF, evaluation ratings, or labeling workflows.
Schedule, Location, and Pay
This is remote contractor work, available only to candidates based in Romania. The role expects a commitment of 20+ hours per week and is offered as part-time contracting work.
Location: Romania only (remote).
Time requirement: 20+ hours/week.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Pay: Hourly, up to $25 USD per hour (hourly rate $25).
How It Works — Next Steps
Apply through your OpenTrain profile to be considered. If selected, you'll work directly with OpenTrain teams to onboard, access project materials, and join training sessions. The role focuses on EVALUATION_RATING and RLHF-style tasks for Romanian text; you will use rubrics and examples to guide decisions.
Prepare examples of Romanian language work or relevant experience for review during onboarding.
Be ready to participate in remote training and coordination via Discord, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
