Python Backend Engineer for AI Agent Infrastructure

The work

You will support AI agent infrastructure and training data development through practical Python engineering, testing, quality review, and technical judgment. Work may follow one of two tracks: building backend connectors or creating realistic tasks and evaluations for AI agents.

• Build Python backend applications that replicate tools such as Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, Gmail, and wikis.
• Test connectors for faithful behavior, extend existing integrations, and create new connectors within agreed timeframes.
• Analyze data and workflows, author realistic long-horizon engineering tasks, and check task quality through structured quality assurance.
• Write rubrics that distinguish correct, partly correct, and deficient work.
• Use AI coding assistants during development, testing, and validation.
• Take part in calibration and quality reviews and deliver work against agreed milestones.

What it pays and takes

This is a remote contractor engagement starting immediately and lasting four weeks. The listing is marked entry level, but the role requires at least three years of backend development experience.

• Pay: $300 per approved task.
• Workload: 20 or more hours per week.
• Minimum output: one completed and approved task per day.
• Task volume: no cap while project work is available.
• Location: worldwide and fully remote.
• Language: English.
• Required: strong Python skills and experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Required: experience with scalable backends, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Required: working knowledge of Git, Docker, pipelines, testing, and code-quality practices.
• Required: daily use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
• Helpful: experience turning real software workflows into reliable backend behavior, designing realistic engineering tasks, or judging technical work against clear quality standards.
