About AI Training Work

AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence. Contributors prepare examples, evaluate model outputs, and provide clear feedback that helps AI systems understand images, language, and real-world context.

This role focuses on multimodal evaluation, combining authentic visual material with research, prompts, grading criteria, and solution notes. The work is remote and designed for people who want flexible access to a fast-growing technology field.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Portuguese-speaking image evaluation annotator to create multimodal AI evaluation materials from authentic photographs of real-world places, products, and media. You will prepare visual challenges that require an AI system to research partial clues, identify subjects, and generate or restore missing content.

The work combines image sourcing, cultural knowledge, web investigation, copyright and licensing review, image editing, and precise evaluation writing. This is an entry-level contractor engagement for candidates with the required language, regional knowledge, research, and visual skills.

  • Role type: Remote, part-time contractor engagement
  • Schedule: At least 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week
  • Time-zone requirement: At least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time
  • Potential engagement length: Up to 16 weeks
  • Compensation: Not disclosed

What You’ll Do

You will develop realistic image-based challenges using photographs connected to an assigned locale. Each submission should preserve meaningful clues while giving an AI system an opportunity to investigate, identify, and respond to the task.

You will also document the evidence behind your work and produce clear, objective evaluation materials in English.

  • Source high-quality photographs of landmarks, universities, municipal buildings, products, and domestic film or media.
  • Confirm whether each image is original, publicly available, copyright-free, or explicitly licensed.
  • Record the image’s license type and provenance.
  • Use Google Search, Google Lens, reverse image search, and other reliable sources to identify subjects from partial visual clues.
  • Crop, mask, occlude, or degrade images while preserving realistic secondary clues and avoiding fabricated details.
  • Write time-bound English prompts, one-sentence objective grading criteria, and solution notes.
  • Document the research process, supporting evidence, and expected outcome.

Required Skills

You must be a native or highly fluent Portuguese speaker with strong working proficiency in English. English is required for prompts, rubrics, and solution notes.

The role requires cultural familiarity with regionally significant places and media, along with practical ability to verify visual subjects and document image rights. You should also be comfortable organizing digital files and completing structured submissions.

  • Native or highly fluent Portuguese and strong working English
  • Knowledge of non-touristy regional landmarks, universities, municipal buildings, and domestic film or media
  • Ability to conduct iterative visual research with Google Search, Google Lens, and reverse image search
  • Working knowledge of copyright, licensing, and image provenance documentation
  • Basic image editing ability for cropping, masking, occlusion, and realistic clue preservation
  • Comfort with shared Google Drive folders, file naming conventions, and structured submissions
  • Ability to write clear prompts, rubrics, and research notes

Helpful Background

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in any field is welcome. Previous experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, photography, or another analytical discipline can be useful but is not required.
