About AI training work for code
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems. For coding projects, experts review AI-generated code, correct bugs, explain changes, and produce clear examples so models learn to generate better code in future.
- You will improve model outputs by providing precise, documented corrections and rationale.
- Many projects require domain expertise — here, deep Perl knowledge — and excellent technical writing in English.
The role
We are seeking a Perl Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in India with C1-level English to review, debug, and correct Perl code produced by AI models. You will document each correction and explain the reasoning in clear English so the model can learn from examples.
- Position type: Contractor, part-time.
- Time: Less than 20 hours per week (you must state an exact weekly-hour commitment during application).
- Pay: USD 20 per hour, paid per hour.
What you'll do
Deliver independent, high-quality reviews of AI-generated Perl code, identify bugs, suggest and apply corrections, and produce concise technical explanations that teach the model best practices.
- Debug and correct Perl scripts and snippets according to industry standards.
- Write clear, step-by-step explanations for each correction in English.
- Follow project guidelines and deliver consistent, timely output.
- Manage tasks independently and maintain quality across assignments.
Requirements
Candidates must meet every substantive requirement below. Do not apply if you cannot satisfy these conditions.
- 7+ years of professional experience with the Perl programming language — be prepared to discuss specific projects and what you built with Perl.
- Located in India (this role is restricted to India-based applicants).
- C1 level English proficiency with strong written communication skills.
- Strong debugging skills, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in English.
- Ability to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and produce consistent high-quality output.
Interview, assessment, and honesty policy
At the start of the interview you will be required to complete a coding/skill test and a live interview. If you are dishonest during the interview or the test, you will be permanently banned from the OpenTrain AI platform.
During application and the interview you will be asked to provide specific information. Your application will be considered incomplete unless you give clear answers to the items listed below.
- Highest level of education (e.g., Bachelor's in Computer Science).
- Exact number of years of experience with Perl (e.g., "9 years").
- Exact hours per week you can commit if hired — this must be a precise number or tight range within the Less than 20 hours/week constraint (for example, "12 hours/week" or "10-14 hours/week").
How to apply
Submit an application that includes a brief summary of your Perl experience, links or descriptions of real-world projects you've built with Perl, and clear answers to the three interview items above. Be prepared for a coding test and live interview if selected.
- Include precise weekly availability (must be under 20 hours/week).
- State your exact years of Perl experience and highest education level in your application.
- Be honest in the assessment: dishonesty leads to permanent platform ban.
