The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Litigation Attorney for AI Training to evaluate and refine AI-generated legal content. You will apply your litigation experience to briefs, arguments, memos, and other legal responses while helping calibrate model performance on complex and ambiguous cases.

This is a part-time contractor role for candidates in the United States. Work is conducted remotely and asynchronously in English, with a time commitment of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do

You will combine legal analysis, litigation experience, and precise written communication to assess model-generated content. Your feedback will help improve how AI systems perform across varied litigation scenarios.

• Evaluate, refine, and enhance AI-generated briefs, arguments, memos, and related legal content.
• Assess AI outputs for factual and legal accuracy, analytical rigor, and adherence to professional standards.
• Provide detailed written feedback on errors, logical inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Apply expert judgment to ambiguous or complex edge cases that inform model calibration.
• Draft or edit sample legal language and arguments to strengthen model understanding of litigation scenarios.
• Collaborate asynchronously with a cross-functional project team and incorporate iterative feedback.

Required Qualifications

This role requires substantial legal training and litigation experience. Your ability to evaluate legal reasoning and explain complex issues clearly is central to the work.

• JD from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school.
• Active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3 to 15 years of post-JD legal experience, with a strong preference for trial, appellate, or litigation specialists.
• Proven expertise in legal writing and clear communication of complex legal concepts.
• Ability to evaluate, critique, and improve AI-generated legal content.
• No prior AI training experience is required.

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful but not required. It may be especially relevant to evaluating legal reasoning, writing quality, and varied litigation scenarios.

• Judicial clerkship experience at the federal or state level, including trial or appellate courts.
• Instruction or teaching experience in legal education as faculty, an adjunct, lecturer, or fellow.
• Law journal editing experience or a record as a published legal author.

Pay, Schedule, and Application
