The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Civil Litigation AI Training Expert for a project focused on civil litigation and dispute resolution. You will construct evaluation tasks, draft reference outputs, and write grading rubrics that reflect how experienced litigators analyze matters across US and international procedural tracks.

The project details list this opportunity as entry level, but the role requirements call for at least five years of litigation experience and substantial complex commercial litigation expertise.

What You’ll Do

You will design sophisticated legal training content that distinguishes genuine litigation judgment from generic law school or bar examination recall. Your work may span US and international civil procedure and dispute resolution practices.

• Design litigation scenarios covering pre-trial discovery, motion practice, trial strategy, settlement, and arbitration
• Build tasks across commercial litigation, complex and class action litigation, discovery and evidence management, trial advocacy, and appellate practice
• Develop scenarios using e-discovery platforms such as Relativity and Everlaw
• Use litigation management software and deposition or trial preparation tools in scenario design
• Apply US or international litigation methodologies and procedural standards
• Produce reference pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and trial memoranda
• Author evaluation rubrics that measure authentic litigation judgment
• Create AI evaluation tasks and grading criteria

Requirements

This role is intended for a senior litigation professional with direct experience handling complex commercial disputes. Candidates should be able to translate practical litigation strategy, procedure, and written work product into clear AI training tasks.

• At least 5 years of experience as a litigator or trial attorney in complex commercial litigation
• Experience at a major litigation firm or in-house litigation department
• Direct ownership of complex commercial litigation matters
• Trial or arbitration experience
• JD with active bar admission, or an international equivalent such as Barrister or Solicitor with advocacy rights
• Deep knowledge of the US Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence, or the English Civil Procedure Rules and international arbitration rules
• Fluency in litigation tools and methodologies, including Relativity or Everlaw
• Experience drafting pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and trial memoranda
• Ability to design evaluation tasks and author grading rubrics for AI systems
