About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.
About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Litigation AI Evaluation Attorney to help train and evaluate legal AI systems through rigorous litigation-focused review. You will apply practical legal judgment to simulated disputes, legal analysis, argument construction, case law, and procedural questions, helping improve the precision and reliability of AI-generated legal work.
What you will do
You will perform simulated litigation tasks involving issue spotting, legal analysis, and construction of persuasive legal arguments. You will review AI responses to litigation scenarios for accuracy, legal reasoning, clarity, and alignment with applicable procedure. You will provide expert feedback that identifies weaknesses in model outputs and explains how legal analysis can be improved. You will develop objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for assessing AI performance on legal tasks. You will also contribute to guidelines, datasets, and best practices for AI-driven legal solutions in collaboration with research and product teams.
Required skills
A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school is required. LL.M.-only and foreign-equivalent qualifications do not meet this requirement. Candidates must have active admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and be actively practicing in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, or compliance. Seasoned litigation experience is strongly preferred. Strong legal research, writing, motion practice, case strategy, analytical, and communication skills are essential. You should be able to translate legal judgment into precise, actionable feedback for AI systems and work effectively with cross-disciplinary research and product teams.
Helpful background
Judicial clerkship experience, legal instruction such as law school teaching or lecturing, law journal or law review editorial experience, and prior exposure to AI, legal technology, or training initiatives are valuable additions.
