About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers discover specialized projects, build a single portable training portfolio, and grow durable freelance careers doing the human-side work that shapes modern AI.

This role is hired and managed by OpenTrain. We offer structured AI training work where your contributions become credible proof of skill on your OpenTrain profile.

About AI training and evaluation work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human work that teaches AI systems how to write, translate, reason, and behave. Tasks include reviewing model outputs, rating correctness and fluency, writing model solutions, and applying localization judgment so models behave properly in a given language and culture.

This job focuses on Korean-language evaluation and localization: you will directly shape how Korean-language AI outputs are judged and improved across real-world use cases.

The role

We are hiring a Korean AI training and evaluation expert to review AI-generated text, evaluate step-by-step reasoning, and produce clear explanations and model solutions. Senior Korean localization judgment is central—terminology, tone, style, and South Korea locale conventions matter.

Position details: contractor, part-time; expected 20+ hours per week; open to applicants based in South Korea only; hourly pay $40 (USD) through an hourly contractor arrangement. Work focuses on TEXT data and includes RLHF, evaluation rating, and text generation tasks.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours/week
  • Location: Applicants must be based in South Korea
  • Rate: $40 USD per hour
  • Data type: Text — label types: RLHF, Evaluation Rating, Text Generation

What you'll do

You will evaluate and improve model outputs across Korean-language tasks. Expect a mix of rating, comparison, writing, and fact-checking duties that require strong editorial judgment and localization expertise.

  • Review and rank AI responses for correctness, fluency, and contextual relevance
  • Evaluate step-by-step reasoning, identify conceptual or methodological errors, and validate model integrity
  • Write clear explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct methods
  • Apply Korean localization judgment, MQM/LQA severity/category thinking, and terminology management
  • Fact-check localized content: units, names, dates, references, and locale-specific conventions
  • Compare multiple model responses and document root causes for errors

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core language, skills, and tooling requirements below. We preserve consistent evaluation standards across contributors, so attention to detail and documented decision-making are essential.

  • Native or near-native Korean proficiency (localization judgment and cultural nuance)
  • C1-level English reading and writing to understand prompts and evaluation guidelines
  • Strong background in translation, localization, or linguistic QA
  • Experience with CAT tools, QA workflows, termbases, or translation memory systems
  • MQM or LQA-style severity, category, and root-cause evaluation thinking
  • Experience reviewing AI-generated content, model outputs, or translation quality
  • Ability to fact-check localized details such as dates, names, units, and references
  • Dependable hourly contractor availability and clear documentation of work

Who should apply

This role fits localization leads, senior linguists, LQA/MQM evaluators, and translators who want to apply their judgment to RLHF and model evaluation projects. Prior experience with AI annotation or evaluation is preferred but not strictly required if you have strong localization and QA experience.

If you enjoy structured evaluation work, writing model solutions, and shaping how Korean-language AI behaves across domains, this role is a strong match.

  • Senior translators, localization QA specialists, and linguistic evaluators
  • Freelancers building a portable AI training portfolio who can document decisions clearly
  • People comfortable collaborating across time zones and working as hourly contractors

How the process works

Apply through your OpenTrain profile. Selection includes a skills check or sample evaluation to verify localization judgment and MQM/LQA thinking. Successful contractors are onboarded, given evaluation guidelines and tooling instructions, and begin hourly work on task batches.

OpenTrain helps you keep a record of completed evaluation work so you can grow a credible, portable AI training portfolio. This project is hourly and contractor-based; precise onboarding and payment details will be shared if you progress.

  • Create or update your OpenTrain profile and apply to this role
  • Complete a short sample evaluation to demonstrate MQM/LQA and localization judgment
  • Onboard to project-specific guidelines and tools, then begin hourly contractor work
