OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. OpenTrain is the leading platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping contributors discover opportunities, build a professional profile, and apply in minutes.
This worldwide, part-time contractor opportunity lets you contribute to the development of multilingual, multi-speaker AI systems while building experience in specialized audio quality assurance.
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People prepare, review, and evaluate examples that help modern AI systems understand language, speech, images, and other real-world information.
In audio training, careful reviewers check recordings and transcripts so models can learn from natural conversations. This role focuses on preserving authentic speech, including overlaps, interruptions, false starts, fillers, backchannels, and other disfluencies.
As a Japanese Audio Transcription QA Specialist, you will serve as a final quality reviewer for multi-channel recordings and human-verified annotations. You will assess audio fidelity, transcription accuracy, speaker identification, timestamps, metadata, and content safety against rigorous quality standards.
The role requires native Japanese proficiency and a highly developed ear for subtle audio defects and complex spontaneous conversations. You will assign pass or fail outcomes, agree or disagree with annotation decisions, and provide actionable feedback when corrections are needed.
You will review each session across audio, language, annotation, metadata, and safety dimensions. Your work will help ensure that conversational speech remains accurately represented rather than being changed to fit prescriptive grammar.
This is an entry-level opportunity, but success depends on precise Japanese language judgment, strong audio awareness, and careful review habits. Experience or training in linguistics, phonetics, language teaching, transcription, or a closely related discipline is relevant.
Professional transcription, phonetics, linguistics, language teaching, or speech-dataset review experience can support success. Familiarity with word-level timestamping, speaker diarization, annotation quality review, and structured JSON data is valuable.
AI training and data-labeling work can offer flexible, remote opportunities for people with language, technical, or specialized expertise. Contributors help shape how state-of-the-art AI systems behave while developing practical experience in a fast-growing field.
OpenTrain gives you a place to build a profile around your AI training experience, discover work that matches your skills, and grow toward a durable career in the industry. Creating an OpenTrain account is free.
