About AI Training and Audio Data Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People prepare, review, and evaluate examples that help modern AI systems understand language, speech, images, and other real-world information.

In audio training, careful reviewers check recordings and transcripts so models can learn from natural conversations. This role focuses on preserving authentic speech, including overlaps, interruptions, false starts, fillers, backchannels, and other disfluencies.

  • Work on cutting-edge AI systems
  • Contribute to multilingual and multi-speaker speech evaluation
  • Use careful human judgment to improve training data quality

The Role

As a Japanese Audio Transcription QA Specialist, you will serve as a final quality reviewer for multi-channel recordings and human-verified annotations. You will assess audio fidelity, transcription accuracy, speaker identification, timestamps, metadata, and content safety against rigorous quality standards.

The role requires native Japanese proficiency and a highly developed ear for subtle audio defects and complex spontaneous conversations. You will assign pass or fail outcomes, agree or disagree with annotation decisions, and provide actionable feedback when corrections are needed.

  • Review Japanese multi-speaker conversations
  • Evaluate recording quality and annotation accuracy
  • Support reliable speech datasets for AI system evaluation

What You'll Do

You will review each session across audio, language, annotation, metadata, and safety dimensions. Your work will help ensure that conversational speech remains accurately represented rather than being changed to fit prescriptive grammar.

  • Evaluate channel isolation, channel bleed, background noise, clipping, low gain, and overall audio fidelity
  • Compare transcriptions with recordings and verify strict accuracy targets
  • Confirm that speech is transcribed verbatim and remains unnormalized
  • Check speaker identification, turn-level timestamps, and word-level timestamps
  • Review overlapping dialogue, interruptions, false starts, fillers, and backchannels
  • Validate JSON-formatted metadata and annotation logic
  • Confirm demographic, contextual, and conversational tags are accurate
  • Audit sessions for personally identifying information, toxic material, and sensitive content
  • Assign pass/fail or agree/disagree outcomes
  • Provide actionable feedback when annotation work requires correction

Requirements and Helpful Background

This is an entry-level opportunity, but success depends on precise Japanese language judgment, strong audio awareness, and careful review habits. Experience or training in linguistics, phonetics, language teaching, transcription, or a closely related discipline is relevant.

Professional transcription, phonetics, linguistics, language teaching, or speech-dataset review experience can support success. Familiarity with word-level timestamping, speaker diarization, annotation quality review, and structured JSON data is valuable.

  • Native proficiency in Japanese for evaluating spontaneous, unnormalized speech
  • Ability to assess complex multi-speaker conversations
  • Ability to detect channel bleed, clipping, low gain, and subtle background noise
  • Strong attention to detail when checking transcription, diarization, timestamps, and metadata logic
  • Ability to preserve natural speech rather than apply prescriptive grammar corrections
  • Precision with word-level and turn-level timestamps
  • Sound judgment when evaluating overlapping dialogue, interruptions, false starts, and backchannels
  • Ability to review JSON metadata and provide annotation-quality feedback
