The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting an Italian Language Reviewer to evaluate AI-generated Italian responses and create expert Italian-language content when requested. This hourly contractor role emphasizes accuracy, reasoning quality, factual correctness, clarity, prompt adherence, and natural communication.

You will assess logic, meaning, methodology, semantics, pragmatics, register, tone, and localization. You will also compare multiple AI responses and provide clear written explanations of errors and recommended improvements.

• Remote, hourly contractor position
• Part-time workload of 20 or more hours per week
• Candidates must be based in Italy
• Compensation of up to $37 per hour
• Intermediate experience level

What You'll Do

You will apply advanced Italian language knowledge and careful editorial reasoning to help evaluate and improve AI outputs. The work requires distinguishing substantive language and reasoning problems from stylistic preferences, then communicating your conclusions clearly.

• Review AI-generated Italian responses for accuracy, clarity, and naturalness
• Generate expert Italian-language content when requested
• Identify errors in logic, meaning, methodology, and conceptual understanding
• Fact-check information and explain corrections clearly in writing
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality
• Apply style guides and maintain terminology and tone consistency across audiences and locales
• Recognize meaning drift, ambiguity, locale inconsistencies, and subtle errors

Requirements

This role requires native or near-native Italian proficiency, minimum C1 English proficiency, and a strong command of Italian language structure and discourse. A bachelor's degree or higher is required in Linguistics, Italian, Translation or Localization, Communications, or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of Italian grammar, including clitics, tense, aspect, and mood
• Strong understanding of semantics, pragmatics, and discourse-level editing
• Ability to distinguish semantic issues from stylistic preferences
• Clear written explanation skills
• Ability to evaluate register, tone, morphosyntax, and localization quality
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field
• Must be based in Italy

Preferred Background

Experience with AI data training, editorial quality assurance, translation or localization quality assurance, or professional editing is strongly preferred. Additional multilingual communication, copyediting, and localization experience can also be valuable for this work.
