The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Healthcare EHR Workflow AI Training Expert to design and execute realistic clinical administration, patient charting, billing, and medical-record workflows in OpenEMR.
The role combines healthcare operations knowledge with precise review of clinical and administrative workflow states. You will create mock clinical assets, execute complete encounters, document reference execution traces, and verify that patient, prescription, medical-record, and claim-ledger states are technically correct.
- Focus: Healthcare EHR workflow review and AI training
- Primary environment: OpenEMR
- Work type: Part-time contractor
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
What You'll Do
You will build realistic, well-documented workflow examples and review instructions for accuracy, clarity, and completeness. The work includes both clinical and administrative processes, with careful attention to how each workflow state should appear in the record and billing system.
- Map patient registration and encounter charting workflows
- Map vitals recording, diagnostic orders, prescriptions, and billing workflows
- Create mock patient profiles, lab-order briefs, encounter backlogs, and insurance claim files
- Execute complete clinical encounters in OpenEMR
- Document reference execution traces
- Define database and workflow checks for encounters, prescriptions, medical records, and claim ledgers
- Explain why medical-record and billing states are technically correct
- Review clinical task instructions and workflows for accuracy, clarity, and completeness
Required Qualifications
Professional experience in healthcare administration, medical practice management, clinical informatics, or EHR and EMR operations is required. Hands-on OpenEMR experience is valuable, while strong experience with hospital EHR systems such as MEDITECH, athenahealth, Epic, or Cerner is also relevant.
You should be able to interpret clinical documentation and patient encounter lifecycles, follow HIPAA data conventions, and manage medical-record workflows with precision. Clear written English is required for producing accurate and unambiguous clinical task instructions.
- Healthcare administration, medical practice management, clinical informatics, or EHR operations experience
- Hands-on OpenEMR experience or strong hospital EHR experience
- Knowledge of clinical documentation workflows and patient encounter lifecycles
- Understanding of HIPAA data conventions and medical record management
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT diagnostic and procedure codes
- Ability to validate clinical, administrative, and billing workflow states precisely
- Ability to create accurate mock clinical assets and reference workflows
- Strong written English communication
Helpful Background
The following experience is helpful for evaluating more technical healthcare workflow and data states, although it is presented as additional background rather than a core requirement.
- Medical billing workflows
- Clearinghouse claim generation
- HL7 or FHIR data standards
- SQL queries for relational patient-chart database verification
- MySQL or MariaDB
