About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people launch and grow freelance careers teaching AI by consolidating opportunities, tracking project history, and building a unified portfolio contributors control.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. We focus on real, paid work that helps state-of-the-art AI systems learn from expert human reviewers.

Why AI training matters in healthcare

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of building reliable AI. In healthcare revenue-cycle management, human reviewers teach models to handle claim status inquiries, payer correspondence, and collections prioritization so automation behaves safely and accurately.

This work is remote-friendly, flexible, and impactful: your domain expertise directly shapes how AI handles sensitive, compliance-bound healthcare interactions.

The role

As a Healthcare A/R Follow-Up AI Training Manager you will evaluate AI-generated A/R follow-up outputs and give structured feedback that improves model quality. Your reviews will cover claim status inquiries, payer correspondence drafts, A/R prioritization recommendations, and other payer-collections artifacts.

This is a contractor, part-time role open to candidates located in the United States. OpenTrain AI will pay $75 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week.

  • Position: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week)
  • Location: Remote — United States only
  • Rate: $75.00 USD per hour

What you'll do day-to-day

Your core responsibility is to assess AI outputs for correctness, compliance, and operational usefulness, then document structured annotations and ratings that feed training datasets.

  • Evaluate AI-generated A/R follow-up recommendations, claim status inquiry outputs, and payer correspondence for accuracy and effectiveness
  • Manage and review claim status follow-up workflows, including EDI 276/277 transactions, payer portal notes, and phone-based resolution scenarios
  • Prioritize A/R queues by aging bucket, payer, and dollar value to maximize revenue recovery and minimize days in A/R
  • Identify and annotate payer processing errors, payment discrepancies, underpayments, and suggested remediation steps
  • Monitor and assess A/R KPIs produced or recommended by AI: days in A/R, aging distribution, collection rates, write-offs
  • Provide clear, structured feedback and rating labels to help models learn correct payer-communication tone, compliance, and workflow steps
  • Ensure AI outputs and suggested communications meet FDCPA, HIPAA, and payer-specific follow-up requirements

Requirements

You must have hands-on revenue-cycle experience and the ability to translate that expertise into concise, consistent annotations and ratings for AI training datasets.

  • 5+ years experience in A/R follow-up, payer collections, or revenue cycle operations, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Deep knowledge of claim status follow-up workflows and EDI 276/277 transactions
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer claims processing and payment timelines
  • Experience prioritizing and managing high-volume A/R queues across multiple payers
  • Proficiency with billing systems and A/R management platforms
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to document feedback clearly and consistently for model training

Helpful background (not required)

These qualifications make it easier to contribute immediately, but candidates without them who meet the core requirements may still apply.

  • CRCR, CPC, or CHFP certification
  • Experience with RCM platforms that include automated A/R follow-up capabilities
  • Background in multi-payer follow-up operations in hospital or physician group settings
  • Familiarity evaluating AI-generated A/R content or other AI tools

Compensation, schedule, and logistics

This contract role pays $75 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week. Work is remote and must be performed from within the United States. OpenTrain AI will provide the labeling/evaluation interface and instructions; you will submit ratings and structured feedback through our platform.

  • Rate: $75/hour
  • Commitment: ~20 hours per week (part-time contractor)
  • Location: Remote — US only
  • Label type: Evaluation ratings and structured annotations on text outputs

How it works and how to apply

If selected you will receive onboarding that explains the evaluation rubric, labeling interface, and quality standards. Work involves reading AI-generated text (claim inquiries, payer messages, suggested follow-up steps), assigning ratings, and writing short structured feedback.

To apply, create an OpenTrain account, complete your profile with relevant RCM experience, and submit your application. OpenTrain AI will review candidates based on experience, domain fit, and annotation accuracy during a short qualification exercise.
