The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Gujarati PDF Annotation and Transcription Expert to create training data from real Gujarati documents. You will map page structure, transcribe Gujarati text exactly as shown, and review another contributor's work for accuracy.

This is an entry-level contractor, part-time opportunity for candidates in India with native Gujarati fluency. The pay rate is $12.68 per hour, with a default commitment of 40 hours per week and a stated time requirement of 20 or more hours weekly.

What You'll Do

You will work carefully across a range of Gujarati PDF pages, including documents with handwriting, tables, diagrams, and complex layouts. Your work will combine visual annotation, transcription, metadata capture, and quality review.

• Source publicly accessible Gujarati PDF pages containing multimodal elements such as handwriting, tables, or diagrams.
• Identify and bound every meaningful page region.
• Assign component types such as title, heading, paragraph, and table.
• Record the reading order of page components.
• Link regions to their parent figures or tables.
• Transcribe all text exactly as it appears in Gujarati script, including handwritten content.
• Capture metadata including language, document type, and page dimensions.
• Review a colleague's work to help ensure accuracy.

Requirements

This role requires native-level Gujarati ability and strong command of the Gujarati script. Accuracy at the character level is essential, particularly when working with diacritics, conjunct forms, handwriting, and unfamiliar document layouts.

• Native Gujarati fluency with full command of the script, diacritics, and conjunct forms.
• Experience in document annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
• Ability to produce character-level accurate transcriptions.
• Careful, precise region bounding across document pages.
• A systematic approach to applying a taxonomy consistently.
• Comfort working with multi-column newspapers, exam papers, handwritten forms, tables, and diagrams.

Helpful Background
