About AI Training and Data Labeling

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Specialists review examples, evaluate model responses, explain decisions, and provide precise feedback so AI systems can perform more reliably in real-world situations.

In this role, your frontend engineering judgment will help AI models reason about software architecture, implementation choices, performance, accessibility, and technical communication.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development through expert evaluation
  • Apply practical engineering knowledge to realistic frontend tasks
  • Use written reasoning and technical feedback to improve model behavior

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Frontend Engineering AI Evaluation Specialist to contribute expert frontend knowledge to AI training work. You will assess real-world engineering decisions, explain architectural trade-offs, and produce precise written feedback that helps AI systems reason about frontend development.

The role combines hands-on technical judgment with strong documentation and communication skills. You will work with complex interfaces and explain sophisticated frontend decisions clearly to varied audiences.

  • Role focus: frontend engineering AI evaluation
  • Data type: computer code and programming
  • Work type: evaluation and rating
  • Experience level listed for the role: entry level
  • Professional frontend experience required: at least three years

What You’ll Do

You will analyze frontend engineering decisions and write concise rationales for technical approaches and architectural patterns. Your evaluations should be contextual, actionable, and grounded in sound engineering judgment.

You will also produce technical documentation and participate in realistic engineering discussions designed to generate expert domain input for AI model development.

  • Evaluate code samples, component architectures, and state management solutions
  • Explain architectural trade-offs and frontend development choices
  • Write RFCs, ADRs, design notes, and other technical documents
  • Explain performance optimization and accessibility considerations
  • Evaluate server-side, client-side, and static site rendering strategies
  • Participate in code review simulations and technical discussions
  • Synthesize engineering insights into constructive commentary
  • Provide expert input using realistic frontend engineering tasks

Required Qualifications

This opportunity requires professional frontend engineering experience and the ability to communicate complex technical subjects in exceptional written English. You should be comfortable evaluating both implementation details and broader architectural decisions.

  • At least three years of professional frontend engineering experience
  • Production experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and modern HTML and CSS
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture
  • Ability to evaluate component architecture and state management patterns
  • Experience assessing frontend performance optimization trade-offs
  • Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive web development
  • Understanding of SSR, CSR, and SSG rendering strategies
  • Experience writing RFCs, ADRs, design notes, or rigorous code review feedback
  • Exceptional written English communication
  • Ability to explain sophisticated technical subjects to varied audiences

Who Should Apply

This role is suited to frontend engineers who can move beyond implementation and clearly explain why a technical approach is appropriate. It may be a strong fit if you enjoy code review, architecture discussions, technical writing, and evaluating realistic engineering scenarios.

You should be able to provide precise, constructive feedback while considering maintainability, performance, accessibility, rendering strategy, and the needs of different audiences.

  • Frontend engineers with production JavaScript and TypeScript experience
  • React developers or engineers experienced with comparable frameworks
  • Technical communicators who can document architectural decisions
  • Engineers comfortable with code review simulations and written evaluation
  • Professionals interested in contributing to the development of AI systems
