The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a French Creative Writer for a remote contract role focused on LLM chatbot training. You will create authentic responses from prompts and refine AI-generated text, applying strong French grammar, varied writing styles, and awareness of French dialects and regional nuances.

The role is listed as intermediate level and is available for less than 20 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours. A commitment of 20 or more hours per week is preferred in the role description. Compensation is $27 USD per hour.

What You’ll Do

You will write and edit content that teaches conversational AI how to produce effective French responses. Assignments may involve creative writing, question answering, and generating text from provided prompts.

• Generate authentic, culturally relevant French responses to prompts
• Refine AI-generated text for accuracy, clarity, and engagement
• Apply knowledge of French dialects and regional language nuances
• Write in multiple styles while maintaining a strong command of grammar
• Edit and proofread content carefully
• Break down complex ideas into simple, understandable language
• Assess and improve the quality of training data and development processes

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

The strongest candidates will have substantial experience writing in French, particularly in creative writing or content creation. More than five years of French writing experience is preferred but not required. Prior experience writing responses to prompts for AI or data-labeling projects is also highly preferred; experience specifically writing responses is more relevant than only rating or evaluating responses.

A background in business, science, or a related field is relevant, and candidates should be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher. A published French writing portfolio is preferred but not required. Experience with AI chatbot tools is an advantage.

• French writing portfolio preferred but not required

Interview and French Writing Assessment

The interview will ask about your experience writing responses to prompts or questions for AI training projects, including the length of that experience. You may also be asked about your highest level of education, French writing experience, and published work or portfolio. If you do not have online portfolio links, be prepared to describe your work.

At the end of the interview, you will complete a short assessment. Questions will be provided in English and French, and you must respond in French. The assessment is designed to evaluate your ability to understand prompts and respond precisely, creatively, and appropriately in French.

• Describe a unique, vivid character in French using at least two distinctive traits
• Write a short French email to a supervisor requesting feedback on a quarterly financial report, focusing on data analysis and presentation style
• Write a concise persuasive French email encouraging an introverted friend to volunteer as a speaker at a local event, addressing a potential concern and highlighting two benefits
