About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting a FreeCAD Mechanical CAD Task Executor to create human reference demonstrations and validate complex parametric modeling work for AI training systems. You will work in FreeCAD across Part Design, Sketcher, TechDraw, Assembly, and STEP or IGES export workflows. The role combines practical mechanical design with quality review, solvability analysis, edge-case discovery, and testing of automated CAD verifiers.

What you will do
Execute multi-step parametric CAD tasks in FreeCAD using remote Ubuntu or Linux desktop environments. Record accurate human execution trajectories, including mouse clicks, sketch constraints, dimensions, and input parameters. Review design briefs for ambiguity, under-constrained sketches, missing library models, and application stability issues. Complete alternative valid modeling paths to check whether automated grading scripts accept technically correct designs. Provide clear execution logs and feedback about task solvability and design requirements.

Required skills
Practical hands-on experience with FreeCAD for 3D part modeling and technical drawing is required. Strong understanding of parametric CAD workflows, sketches, constraints, dimensions, and assemblies is expected. You should be able to navigate CAD software efficiently, troubleshoot sketch constraints, and maintain high dimensional accuracy. Clear written English is required for execution logs and solvability feedback.

Helpful background
Experience with remote Linux desktop environments, including noVNC or VNC, is helpful. Background in CAD quality assurance, technical testing, or design benchmarking is also valued.

Engagement details
This is remote, pay-per-task work. Tasks average 60 minutes each. The initial engagement is expected to last 5 weeks, with potential for extension, and can begin as soon as possible.
