  • Remote work from anywhere
  • Contractor and part-time engagement
  • Expected commitment of less than 20 hours per week
  • Project duration expected to be 1 to 3 months
  • Hourly pay range of $40 to $80 USD, with a listed rate of $60 USD per hour

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People with specialized knowledge create, review, and evaluate examples that teach AI systems how to interpret information and produce useful responses.

In this role, your mechanical engineering and CAD expertise will help create objective technical examples based on real assembly geometry, relationships, and engineering function.

  • Contribute directly to the development of modern AI systems
  • Apply professional expertise to structured question-and-answer content
  • Work flexibly and remotely with an asynchronous workflow

The FreeCAD Expert Role

As a FreeCAD Expert, you will author objective, precise, and non-guessable question-and-answer sets using multi-part CAD assemblies provided in native FreeCAD format. Each question must have an exact, verifiable answer that requires genuine domain expertise.

The work combines technical analysis, engineering communication, and content creation. You will examine complex mechanical designs and turn your findings into clear, assessment-ready material.

  • Analyze multi-part CAD assemblies in native FreeCAD format
  • Focus on geometry, assembly relations, and engineering function
  • Create several technical questions for each assembly
  • Provide exact and verifiable answers
  • Produce clear, accurate, high-quality written content

What You'll Do

You will develop detailed technical questions and answers that accurately reflect the underlying CAD assemblies. The content should be precise, objective, and designed so that answers can be verified from the provided designs.

You will also collaborate asynchronously through written and verbal communication to clarify requirements, respond to feedback, and improve deliverables. When you encounter insights or ambiguities, you will document them to support continuous improvement.

  • Interpret engineering designs and multi-part assembly relationships
  • Apply mechanical engineering expertise when authoring question-and-answer sets
  • Review content for technical accuracy, clarity, and objectivity
  • Clarify requirements and iterate based on feedback
  • Record ambiguities and useful insights discovered during authoring

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

This is an expert-level opportunity for a consultant or professional who values accuracy and clear technical communication. Candidates should be comfortable analyzing engineering designs and explaining complex technical concepts in writing and conversation.

Direct FreeCAD experience is preferred but is not strictly required if you have experience with comparable CAD platforms and can interpret multi-part assemblies effectively.

  • Extensive background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or industrial design
  • Strong foundational CAD knowledge
  • Significant experience with multi-part assemblies and engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with FreeCAD or comparable CAD platforms
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in written and verbal formats
  • Experience authoring detailed technical questions or training material for engineering applications
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Commitment to producing objective, assessment-ready content
  • Fluent English proficiency

Who Should Apply

This role is well suited to an experienced mechanical engineer, aerospace engineer, industrial designer, CAD specialist, or technical consultant who can translate detailed assembly analysis into rigorous question-and-answer content.

Apply if you enjoy solving precise engineering problems, assessing designs carefully, and producing technical material that must be accurate rather than speculative.

  • Mechanical engineering and CAD experts
  • Aerospace engineering professionals with assembly analysis experience
  • Industrial designers with strong technical and CAD foundations
  • Technical consultants experienced in engineering documentation or assessment content
