AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors annotate, evaluate, and refine examples that modern models learn from — from text and translations to conversational responses and content moderation.

This work is often 100% remote, flexible, and accessible to people with language skills or domain knowledge. Contributors shape how models communicate and behave in real languages and cultures.

The role

You will review AI-generated Finnish content and produce high-quality Finnish reference answers that models can learn from. The core focus is on fluency, correctness, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to the prompt.

This is a remote contractor, part-time role with a Finland hiring focus. Typical commitment is 20+ hours per week, and compensation is paid hourly at up to $50/hour.

What you'll do

You will evaluate, rewrite, and produce gold-standard Finnish text across general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing. Your assessments and reference answers will guide model improvements and help Finnish outputs feel natural and reliable.

• Review and improve AI-generated Finnish writing for accuracy, fluency, style, and cultural fit
• Identify mistranslations, literal translations, register issues, ambiguity, and logical inconsistencies
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses to determine which is most accurate, natural, and useful
• Write high-quality rewrites and gold-standard reference answers in Finnish
• Create prompts and gold-standard Finnish answers across multiple domains
• Fact-check claims when needed and flag hallucinated or misleading content

Requirements

You must be able to deliver precise, reliable assessments and written Finnish outputs. We expect both language skill and experience with structured quality review workflows.

• Native or near-native Finnish proficiency in reading and writing
• Strong professional English ability for writing detailed feedback
• Background in linguistics, translation, editing, localization, journalism, education, or related language work
• Deep understanding of Finnish grammar and style, including case usage, word order, compounds, punctuation, and register
• Comfort adapting tone across formal/informal registers and selkokieli
• Strong attention to detail for spotting subtle meaning shifts and culturally mismatched phrasing
• Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation

Helpful background

The following are not required but make you a stronger candidate and help you move faster in project work.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a language-related field
• Experience writing, editing, or reviewing Finnish content for professional use
• Familiarity with comparing model responses and giving structured quality feedback
