About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help experienced contributors find specialized projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career teaching AI systems how to behave.

Work here if you want flexible, remote contract work that directly shapes how real-world AI gives financial guidance and client-facing advice.

Why AI training in finance matters

AI training is the human side of building smarter, safer models. For personal finance, expert reviewers teach models to give accurate, practical, and compliant advice for everyday households. Your feedback will improve explanations, recommendations, and the model's ability to prioritize client goals and tradeoffs.

  • Contribute to systems that help millions get clearer personal finance guidance
  • Flexible remote work that leverages your advisor experience
  • Work where real-world judgment, fiduciary thinking, and plain-language skills matter

The role

As a Financial Planning AI Training Expert you'll review realistic household scenarios and evaluate AI-generated recommendations across budgeting, emergency funds, debt management, retirement planning, investing basics, and client communication. You will identify compliance and risk issues, apply fiduciary standards, and provide clear written feedback to improve model responses and workflows.

What you'll do

  • Assess suitability, clarity, practicality, and compliance of AI advice for W-2 earners and middle-income households
  • Evaluate recommendations on budgeting, cash flow, debt payoff strategies, retirement savings, and basic insurance needs
  • Document typical advisor-client conversation flows including goal prioritization and decision points
  • Explain decision rules, rules of thumb, and benchmarks used in everyday planning
  • Provide plain-language written feedback to improve AI explanations, next steps, and client communication

Requirements

You must meet the following baseline qualifications and bring strong judgment grounded in client-facing planning experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on, client-facing financial planning experience serving mainstream households
  • Strong experience in budgeting, cash flow analysis, debt management, retirement strategies, and basic risk management
  • CFP certification strongly preferred; CFA, ChFC, or similar planning credentials accepted when paired with strong planning experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to fiduciary standards, compliance, and high-integrity client service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex topics clearly
  • Experience mentoring others or improving planning workflows is a plus

Helpful background

The project suits people who've worked in workplace financial consulting, advisor roles at national firms, or on digital advice platforms. Familiarity with personal finance apps and comfort working asynchronously and independently will help you move quickly.

  • Experience with digital advice tools or personal finance apps
  • Comfort reviewing text-based model outputs and documenting decisions
  • Ability to work independently on 20+ hours per week

Compensation, schedule, and logistics

This is a remote contractor, part-time role limited to applicants in the US. Target compensation is hourly: $80–$110 per hour. Expect to work 20+ hours per week and complete text-based evaluation and question-answering tasks asynchronously.

  • Pay type: hourly contractor, $80 to $110 USD per hour
  • Workload: 20+ hours per week (remote, asynchronous)
  • Data type: text — you'll evaluate and rate AI-generated written recommendations
  • Languages: English required; location: United States
