About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people who train and evaluate AI with projects that turn real human expertise into better models—helping contributors build a durable freelance career in a fast-growing field.

As the hiring organization for this role, OpenTrain supports remote, flexible work and offers projects that let you shape how AI systems behave by contributing real operational knowledge.

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human layer behind modern AI. Contributors annotate, evaluate, and provide feedback so models learn from real examples. This is accessible, often part-time remote work where your domain skills directly influence how AI systems behave.

The role

You will use your active business operations experience to evaluate project management, CRM, productivity, and automation tools, then translate observations into clear, structured feedback used to train AI systems. This contract role is built for entrepreneurs and operators who can test systems using authentic workflows and real business data.

  • Position type: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week).
  • Work format: Remote, mostly document-based evaluation and written/verbal feedback.
  • Data focus: DOCUMENTs, with label tasks including evaluation/rating and data collection.

What you'll do

Deliver concrete, operational feedback based on hands-on testing of tools and workflows. Your observations will be documented to produce high-quality training data and evaluation labels usable by AI systems.

  • Review and validate project management, CRM, productivity, and automation tools using your live business workflows.
  • Analyze workflows and business data to identify usability issues and process improvements.
  • Document findings clearly and provide actionable recommendations for business systems and optimizations.
  • Contribute written and verbal feedback that will be converted into AI training datasets and evaluation labels.

Requirements

Candidates must have active, hands-on business operations experience and be able to test systems with authentic workflows and data. Strong communication and data analysis skills are essential because your feedback will be used directly to train and evaluate models.

  • Proven experience actively operating a business and access to real operational workflows and data.
  • Hands-on familiarity with project management, CRM, SaaS tools, and process automation.
  • Strong ability to analyze business data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and verbal feedback.
  • Availability for 20+ hours per week as a contractor.

Helpful background

The following experiences are not required but make your contributions more valuable and may lead to more projects.

  • Experience advising or leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • SaaS implementation, business system integration, or workflow automation experience.
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, or modern digital productivity trends.

Compensation, schedule, and next steps

Pay is per hour in USD. The role lists a range with an upper rate of $120/hr (hourly range $50–$120/hr). You will be engaged as a contractor and set your availability for part-time work (20+ hours/week).

  • How to apply: Create or update your OpenTrain profile and submit examples of your business, the tools you use, your typical workflows, and your weekly availability.
  • Selection: We'll review your operational experience and may request sample evaluations or a short video/verbal walkthrough of a workflow.
  • Work product: Expect to produce clear written evaluations and occasional verbal summaries that are turned into labeled training data.
