About AI Training Work

AI training, also called data labeling or data annotation, is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors label, review, and evaluate data so AI systems can better understand content such as video, audio, language, and other real-world examples.

  • Help shape how next-generation AI systems interpret video and audio.
  • Use careful human judgment to produce accurate, consistent training data.
  • Gain experience in an industry where attention to detail and subject knowledge matter.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Data Annotator for a video and audio annotation project. You will produce and review high-quality labeled data according to detailed guidelines and protocols. No prior AI experience is required, but you should bring a methodical approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to make objective decisions about nuanced data.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The project pays $6-$10 per hour, with work available worldwide.

  • Review, validate, and enhance existing annotations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and document edge cases and ambiguous data points for clarification.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators to refine annotation criteria.
  • Maintain records of completed annotations and submit deliverables on schedule.
  • Provide feedback on annotation tools and workflows for process improvement.
  • Ensure completed data meets quality assurance standards.
  • Complete transcription and classification labeling tasks.

Requirements

This entry-level opportunity does not require previous AI experience. However, the role does require demonstrated data annotation experience, including experience with video and audio content, along with the ability to follow highly specific instructions independently.

  • Demonstrated experience in data annotation, especially with video and audio content.
  • Proven attention to detail shown through previous data annotation examples.
  • Ability to interpret and execute detailed annotation guidelines.
  • Ability to identify edge cases and report ambiguities.
  • Strong analytical skills for making objective decisions about nuanced data.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
  • Experience working independently on remote projects with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with data labeling platforms or annotation tools is a plus.

Why This Work Matters

Every major AI system depends on data prepared and reviewed by people. By carefully labeling video and audio, you will contribute directly to the examples that help emerging AI models recognize, classify, and interpret real-world content.

  • Work on cutting-edge AI development without needing prior AI experience.
  • Choose flexible remote work that can fit around other commitments.
  • Develop practical experience with annotation quality, guidelines, and review.
