About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People create examples, evaluate model outputs, and develop benchmark material that helps AI systems reason more accurately. In this role, your statistical analysis will support the training and evaluation of advanced models.
- Work on cutting-edge AI training and evaluation
- Turn expert quantitative reasoning into structured training examples
- Contribute remotely using written and verbal collaboration
The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Data and Statistical Chart Analysis Expert to create rigorous AI benchmark material from complex data science and statistical visualizations. You will turn charts into objective, multi-step analytical questions and produce precise, verifiable solutions.
This is an entry-level contractor role with a 20+ hour weekly commitment. The advertised rate is $25-$50 per hour, and strong written and verbal English is required.
- Role focus: data and statistical chart analysis
- Work type: part-time contract
- Experience level listed: entry level
- Language: English
- Eligible locations include the countries specified for this opportunity
What You'll Do
You will analyze visual data and design tasks that test genuine quantitative reasoning rather than surface-level chart reading. Each question and solution should be clear, technically accurate, and objectively verifiable for use in AI training and evaluation.
- Interpret Sankey diagrams, heatmaps, calibration curves, residual plots, correlation matrices, distribution plots, and other statistical visualizations
- Create questions involving trend analysis, comparisons, interpolation, calculations, and statistical inference
- Write step-by-step answers with explicit calculations and modeling logic
- Reference units, scales, axes, legends, and annotations precisely
- Produce unambiguous benchmark tasks with objectively verifiable answers
- Incorporate feedback and maintain consistent communication with project stakeholders
- Collaborate remotely through written and verbal communication
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in data science, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, operations research, or a related quantitative discipline. You also need at least two years of professional, academic, or research experience involving statistical models, data visualizations, or analytical reporting.
- Advanced ability to interpret axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, and statistical annotations
- Experience applying statistical inference and quantitative reasoning to visual data
- Ability to perform and explain explicit calculations
- Ability to design objective, multi-step benchmark questions with unambiguous answers
- Strong written and verbal English
- Ability to explain quantitative reasoning clearly and precisely
- Sound judgment when creating analytical tasks and verifiable solutions
Helpful Background
Experience translating technical expertise into structured assessment or training material will help you succeed. OpenTrain also values candidates who have worked with documentation, publications, analytical task development, data annotation, benchmark questions, technical reports, or AI-related analytical projects.
- Technical documentation or publication experience
- Assessment design or structured analytical task development
- Data-annotation or benchmark-question experience
- Technical reporting experience
- AI-related analytical project experience
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another relevant language
