About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help legal, language, and annotation professionals find projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow work they control. Creating an OpenTrain account is free.

OpenTrain is also the hiring organization for this project. We connect skilled contributors to concrete, paid assignments that contribute directly to how modern AI systems are trained and evaluated.

About AI training and why it matters

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is how humans teach models to understand and use language and documents. Contributors prepare, review, and curate examples that shape model behavior—everything from contract language to licensing clauses.

  • Work is typically 100% remote and often flexible around other commitments.
  • Many projects require legal knowledge and attention to detail; others are entry-level but still influential in model outcomes.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Commercial Contract Drafting Attorney to create a suite of real-world commercial agreement templates and annotated examples for an AI training dataset. You will produce high-quality documents that reflect current commercial practice and practical use cases.

  • Pay: USD $80–$100 per hour (hourly rate paid).
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week.
  • Employment: Contractor, part-time.
  • Location: Remote, worldwide; English required.

What you'll do

You will draft, review, and submit well-structured commercial agreements and annotated samples that become part of a text/document dataset used for model training. Clear, accurate contractual drafting is essential.

  • Draft templates and sample clauses for MSAs, lease agreements, IP licensing, marketing agreements, and related commercial contracts.
  • Provide annotated examples that explain clause purpose, key negotiation points, and common drafting variations.
  • Ensure documents reflect current legal standards, industry best practices, and practical commercial scenarios.
  • Communicate promptly with the project team to clarify scope and deliverables and deliver assignments autonomously.

Requirements

You must be a practicing or recently qualified commercial attorney with hands-on experience drafting commercial agreements and working independently in a remote setting.

  • Practicing or recently qualified commercial attorney with contract drafting and negotiation exposure.
  • Working knowledge of MSAs, lease agreements, IP licensing, and marketing contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to create or adapt legal documents for practical, real-world use.
  • Strong written communication, attention to clarity, and meticulous approach to compliance and detail.
  • Experience with remote collaboration and delivering assignments autonomously.

Helpful background

Candidates with experience in legal operations, technology contracts, or familiarity with AI-enabled platforms will find this work especially relevant, though it is not strictly required.

  • Interest or background in legal ops, tech contracting, or AI-adjacent work is a plus.

How the project works and how to apply

You will submit polished document templates and annotated examples that feed into a text-generation and data-collection training pipeline. OpenTrain hires contributors directly for contract work and manages deliverables and payment.

To apply, create a free OpenTrain account, complete your profile in English, and submit your application through the platform. Selected contributors will receive project instructions, sample formats, and deadlines; work is assessed for quality and adherence to requirements.

  • Deliverables are document files and annotations intended for model training—clarity and real-world applicability are evaluated.
  • Payment is hourly at the posted rate; payment and contractor terms are handled by OpenTrain.
  • This role is suitable for contributors worldwide who can work in English and commit 20+ hours per week.
