The Role
OpenTrain AI is hiring a Contract Playbook General Counsel to create, review, and refine contract negotiation playbooks; draft and annotate commercial agreements; and improve contract templates for clarity, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
The work is document-driven and includes sourcing eligible transaction materials, providing expert commentary on contract management and negotiation strategy, and delivering written and verbal feedback that supports AI training.

What You'll Do
You will apply your experience as a senior commercial lawyer to create practical, precise, and useful materials. Your work should help clarify negotiation approaches, strengthen contract processes, and identify risks in realistic scenarios.
- Build and refine contract negotiation playbooks from real-world scenarios and company requirements
- Draft, analyze, and annotate commercial agreements with attention to clarity, precision, and compliance
- Evaluate existing contract templates and identify improvements that strengthen efficiency and reduce risk
- Curate non-confidential transaction materials that support documentation objectives
- Provide concise, actionable feedback on contract management and negotiation practices
Required Qualifications
This role requires substantial legal experience in commercial contracting and the ability to provide clear, practical analysis. Candidates must have current or prior experience serving as General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, or Assistant General Counsel.
- Current or prior experience as General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, or Assistant General Counsel
- Strong background in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and management
- Knowledge of contract review standards and risk assessment practices
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Familiarity with contract playbooks and template optimization
- Ability to identify contract risk and compliance issues in real scenarios
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with careful attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and deliver practical, useful insights for AI training work
- Bar number and state licensure to practice law
- Active bar membership and state licensure
