The AI training field — why this work matters
AI systems learn from examples and human feedback. Evaluators and annotators steer model behavior by checking accuracy, reasoning, tone, and localization. This is flexible, remote work that directly shapes how state-of-the-art language models perform.
Work remotely and part time while contributing to real improvements in AI quality.
Many projects require language and localization expertise rather than programming skills.
The role
OpenTrain is hiring a Chinese Language Expert to evaluate AI-generated Chinese (Traditional) responses. In this contractor role you will assess correctness, logical reasoning, cultural and localization quality, and produce clear explanations and model solutions when needed.
Work type: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week).
Pay: USD $35.00 per hour.
Location: Remote — applicants must be located in Taiwan and fluent in Chinese (Traditional).
Data & tasks: text evaluation, RLHF-style rating, and text generation review.
What you'll do
You will review AI responses for accuracy and reasoning, identify methodological or conceptual errors, apply Traditional Chinese localization judgement, and write or edit model solutions and explanations that demonstrate the correct approach.
Assess responses for accuracy, clarity, prompt adherence, and logical reasoning.
Identify errors in methodology, terminology, tone, and cultural nuance.
Fact-check content and write clear explanations or corrected model answers as needed.
Compare multiple AI responses and recommend which best answers the prompt and why.
Apply Traditional Chinese localization, translation and QA practices in the evaluation workflow.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the role's language and skill requirements and be able to work as an hourly contractor for 20+ hours per week.
Native or near-native Chinese (Traditional) writing judgment (zh-Hant).
C1-level English reading and writing to understand prompts and guidelines.
Experience in translation, linguistics, localization, communications, or a related field.
Familiarity with MQM or LQA concepts, including severity, category, and root-cause analysis.
Comfort with CAT tools and QA workflows (translation memory, termbases, automated checks).
Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and ability to fact-check localized content.
Previous AI data training, annotation, or evaluation experience is preferred.
Who should apply & how it works
This role is a good fit for translators, localization QA specialists, linguists, editors, and communicators with strong Traditional Chinese skills and solid English. You do not need prior engineering experience, but familiarity with MQM/LQA and CAT tools is required.
