About AI Training Work

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Contributors review model responses, identify errors, write examples, and provide feedback that helps AI systems become more accurate, clear, useful, and culturally appropriate.

As a language evaluation expert, you will work directly with text generated by AI models. Your judgment will help improve reasoning quality, translation and localization, terminology, tone, and adherence to user prompts.

  • Work remotely with a computer and internet connection
  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Use language and editorial expertise in a growing field

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Chinese Language Expert with native or near-native Traditional Chinese judgment and strong English ability. You will review AI-generated responses, assess step-by-step problem-solving, and provide expert feedback on accuracy, clarity, correctness, reasoning, and prompt adherence.

The work also includes applying Chinese Traditional localization and translation expertise in an AI evaluation workflow. You will compare multiple responses, fact-check localized content, and write explanations or model solutions when needed.

  • Fully remote contractor position
  • Part-time engagement requiring 20+ hours per week
  • Pay of $25-$35 per hour
  • Open to candidates in China and Taiwan
  • Traditional Chinese and English language work

What You'll Do

You will combine careful language review with structured AI evaluation. Strong performance requires editorial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to explain not only whether a response is wrong, but also why.

  • Review AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, prompt adherence, and logical reasoning.
  • Assess reasoning quality and step-by-step problem-solving.
  • Identify errors in methodology, conceptual understanding, terminology, tone, and cultural nuance.
  • Fact-check information and localized content.
  • Compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and reasoning quality.
  • Write clear explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct methods when needed.
  • Apply Traditional Chinese localization and translation expertise.
  • Use MQM or LQA thinking to assess severity, category, and root cause.

Requirements

This is listed as an entry-level opportunity, but the work calls for strong language judgment and familiarity with localization quality processes. Previous AI training, annotation, or evaluation experience is preferred rather than required.

  • Native or near-native Traditional Chinese proficiency and writing judgment
  • C1-level English reading and writing for prompts and guidelines
  • Experience in translation, linguistics, localization, communications, or a related field
  • Familiarity with MQM or LQA concepts and decision-making
  • Ability to analyze severity, category, and root cause
  • Comfort with CAT tools, translation memory, termbases, and automated checks
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to fact-check localized content
  • Comfort reviewing AI-generated answers for correctness and reasoning quality

Helpful Background

Experience with terminology management, style guides, copyediting, multilingual localization, or QA workflows will help you succeed. Dependable contractor availability, clear documentation, and responsiveness across time zones are also helpful.

  • Terminology management experience
  • Style guide or copyediting experience
  • Multilingual localization experience
  • CAT workflow or translation quality assurance experience
  • Previous AI data training, annotation, or evaluation experience
