You will create realistic hardware engineering challenges, solve them, and evaluate whether the problems and solutions are technically sound. Your work should show clear reasoning, practical constraints, quantitative analysis, and results that another expert can independently reproduce.
You may use engineering calculations, simulations, scripts, experimental reasoning, or test automation to validate your work. The role connects first-principles engineering with product, system, testing, and reliability requirements.
- Create technically rigorous problems based on realistic engineering or research scenarios.
- Develop clear reference solutions using calculations, simulations, scripts, or experimental reasoning.
- Check whether problems and solutions are technically sound, reproducible, and independently verifiable.
- Use tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, SPICE, Julia, C/C++, and test automation platforms when useful.
- Produce technically clear, quantitatively reasoned work with support from coding agents.
What It Pays And Takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role at the entry level. The schedule is flexible, including weekends if desired, and the role is structured around approximately 15 hours per week.
- $60 to $120 per hour equivalent, paid per task that meets the project specifications.
- Remote from one of the eligible countries specified for this role; this opportunity is not worldwide.
- Approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Significant professional or research experience in hardware engineering, product development, systems integration, testing, validation, reliability, or failure analysis.
- A bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, applied physics, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of substantial technical work, such as a production product or subsystem, a model validated against physical testing, a test system, or a difficult failure analysis.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, Simulink, SPICE, Julia, C/C++, simulation, experimental reasoning, or test automation is helpful.

About AI Training Work
AI training work is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors create and evaluate examples, including technical problems and model responses, so AI systems can produce more useful and reliable results. People with strong engineering experience are valuable because they can judge whether solutions are accurate, practical, and reproducible.
