  • Apply language and writing expertise to real model-training tasks
  • Work remotely with a flexible part-time schedule

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an intermediate-level Creative Writer proficient in Cantonese for a remote contract role focused on LLM and AI chatbot training. You will write and refine dialogue, generate authentic responses to prompts, and improve AI-generated text so it is accurate, engaging, natural, and culturally relevant.

  • Pay: $19 USD per hour
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Time requirement: Less than 20 hours per week
  • Schedule guidance: A minimum of 10 hours is required, with 20+ hours preferred
  • Work type: Remote and worldwide

What You'll Do

You will complete writing, question-answering, and text-generation tasks in Cantonese. Assignments may involve responding to prompts, creating conversational examples, editing model outputs, and producing writing in different styles for AI training datasets.

  • Write natural dialogue for AI chatbot training
  • Improve AI-generated text for accuracy, quality, and engagement
  • Apply Cantonese regional and cultural nuance appropriately
  • Edit and proofread content meticulously
  • Complete creative writing, question-answering, and text-generation tasks

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Strong written Cantonese proficiency is essential. More than five years of Cantonese creative writing or content-creation experience is preferred but not required. A portfolio of published Cantonese work, online or in print, is also preferred but not required.

Basic English is needed to follow instructions and communicate effectively with the team. Experience using AI chatbot tools is an advantage, but it is not essential. Applicants will also be asked about their highest level of education.

  • Strong command of written Cantonese Chinese
  • Excellent grammar and the ability to write in varied styles
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Basic English for instructions and team communication
  • More than five years of Cantonese creative or content writing preferred
  • Published Cantonese writing portfolio preferred, but not required
  • Prior hands-on AI or LLM training writing experience preferred
  • Experience writing responses to prompts is more relevant than response-rating experience

Interview Writing Assessment

The interview includes questions about your prior AI or LLM training writing experience, including how long you have performed this type of work. You may also be asked to provide a portfolio link or describe published work if no link is available.

At the end of the interview, you will complete a short assessment. Questions are provided in English and Cantonese Chinese, and you must respond in Cantonese Chinese. The quality and precision of your responses will significantly affect your qualification score.

  • Describe a unique, vivid character in creative Cantonese, including at least two notable traits or characteristics
  • Write a short Cantonese email to your supervisor requesting feedback on a quarterly financial report, focusing on data analysis and presentation style
  • Write a concise Cantonese email persuading an introverted friend to volunteer as a guest speaker at a local event, highlighting two benefits and addressing one potential concern
