The role
You will create advanced chemistry problems and produce clear, structured solutions that combine text with equations, diagrams, and annotated chemical structures. Tasks include authoring problems, solving them step-by-step, annotating mechanisms, and reviewing content for clarity and rigor.

What you'll do
Create advanced chemistry problems and solve them with step-by-step reasoning.
Write detailed explanations combining narrative text with visuals, chemical equations, and diagrams.
Analyze organic reaction mechanisms and annotate chemical structures.
Work through problems in equilibrium, thermodynamics, stoichiometry, and electrochemistry.
Review and improve chemistry content for clarity, structure, and analytical rigor.
Evaluate model-generated responses and provide ratings and structured feedback to guide fine-tuning.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the substantive technical and communication requirements below. The role expects the ability to author and verify advanced solutions with high accuracy and pedagogical clarity.
Strong foundation in chemistry at a PhD-level standard (explicitly required).
Experience or advanced study in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Ability to explain complex chemistry concepts in simple, structured language.
Strong analytical thinking, research skills, and attention to detail.
Comfort working independently in a remote setup and providing constructive feedback.
Strong English comprehension and structured scientific writing.
Experience explaining reaction mechanisms, equilibrium, thermodynamics, or electrochemistry clearly.
Experience creating visual explanations and annotated diagrams for chemical problems.
How the work is structured
This project centers on text-based training data that includes structured problem statements, stepwise solutions, and references to visuals (equations, diagrams, annotated structures). You will both generate new examples (text generation) and evaluate/rate model outputs (evaluation rating).
Deliverables typically include problem prompts, full worked solutions, annotated diagrams or structure labels, and evaluation ratings or comments on model responses. OpenTrain will provide task guidelines and quality criteria.
Data type: TEXT (with diagrams and structure annotations referenced in text).
Labeling tasks: TEXT_GENERATION and EVALUATION_RATING.
