The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an intermediate-level CAD Expert with manufacturing and engineering experience for an AI training and evaluation project. You will evaluate AI-generated content, recommendations, and workflows related to CAD and manufacturing.
The role is fully remote and open worldwide. It is structured as part-time contractor work for less than 20 hours per week, with a project duration expected to be under one month.

What You'll Do
You will apply practical CAD, manufacturing, CAM, CNC, and engineering knowledge to assess whether AI-generated outputs are technically accurate, feasible, and efficient in real-world settings. Your feedback will help improve AI model performance and manufacturing-related workflows.
Review AI-generated content, recommendations, and workflows related to CAD and manufacturing
Evaluate manufacturing processes and techniques using practical industry knowledge
Assess the technical accuracy, feasibility, and efficiency of AI-generated solutions
Develop and validate detailed rubrics for manufacturing processes and AI-generated outputs
Identify errors, inconsistencies, and recommendations that do not match real-world practices
Provide clear, structured written feedback
Use professional CAD, CAM, CNC, and manufacturing terminology
Complete text-labeling workflows and evaluation-rating tasks
Meet minimum weekly task-submission requirements
Required Qualifications
You should have hands-on experience with at least one CAD platform and a practical understanding of CAD workflows and manufacturing processes. Strong communication and attention to detail are important because the work involves explaining technical judgments and documenting evaluation results.
Hands-on experience with at least one CAD platform, such as Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Onshape, Inventor, CATIA, or Creo
Practical understanding of CAD workflows and manufacturing processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Ability to provide detailed, structured feedback
Strong attention to detail when evaluating technical accuracy
Fluent English proficiency
CAD manufacturing engineering AI evaluation subject-matter expertise
Preferred Experience
Candidates with additional manufacturing, digital engineering, technical evaluation, or AI-assisted design experience are especially encouraged to apply. Python proficiency is a significant plus but is not listed as a required qualification.
Experience with Autodesk Fusion 360 or AutoCAD
Background in CAM, CNC machining, or digital manufacturing

Compensation and Availability
Compensation is output-based, with experts paid per task that meets project specifications and quality requirements. The structured pay information lists a USD $50–$100 hourly range, while the project description defines payment by completed task.
Task time can vary based on your experience, workflow, and assignment complexity. Minimum submission requirements apply, and experts are expected to complete a minimum number of tasks each week. OpenTrain aims to fill the role quickly, with first tasks expected within 24–48 hours after onboarding for selected candidates.
