Why AI Training Work Matters
AI systems learn from examples and human judgments — your domain expertise helps shape how models interpret and act on business intelligence data. Work in AI training is remote, flexible, and a practical way to apply real-world BI skills to the cutting edge of model development.
Many projects require no prior AI-training experience; what we value is subject-matter knowledge, accuracy, and the ability to explain decisions so model behavior improves over time.
The Role
You will act as a Business Intelligence Consultant focused on Excel-based workflows to support AI training tasks that involve structured data, reporting, and analytical reasoning.
The work combines writing or improving expert responses, reviewing model outputs against guidelines, and producing clear explanations so feedback can be used to improve model performance.
Contractor role, remote and part-time (20+ hours/week).
Work centers on Excel, large datasets, and BI reporting.
Labeling tasks include text generation and evaluation/rating of model responses.
What You'll Do
Carry out repeatable review and feedback tasks that translate BI expertise into precise instructions for models and dataset quality checks.
Write or improve expert responses and explain your reasoning clearly.
Compare source materials and model outputs to project guidelines and apply rubrics consistently.
Document judgments and examples that help models learn desired behavior.
Clean, validate, and prepare structured data in Excel as needed for evaluation tasks.
Maintain high consistency and quality across repeated review assignments.
Requirements
You must meet the listed skills and be comfortable working independently on remote contractor tasks. Prior AI-training experience is helpful but not required.
Relevant professional, academic, or language expertise in Business Intelligence Data Analysis.
Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, PivotTables, VBA, and data modeling.
Experience cleaning, validating, and presenting large datasets.
Ability to translate business questions into actionable insights and stakeholder-facing reports.
Fluency in English, strong written communication, and attention to detail.
Ability to follow detailed project instructions and apply rubrics consistently.
Prior support for AI, machine learning, or data science projects through BI work is a plus (not required).
Schedule, Pay, and Logistics
This is a remote contractor, part-time role that expects 20+ hours per week. The role focuses on Excel-based BI and data preparation tasks mapped to model evaluation and response writing.
Pay is $40–$50 per hour. Estimated project earnings for the engagement are approximately $6,400–$8,000 based on the schedule and duration shown on OpenTrain.
Worldwide applicants are welcome; work independently and asynchronously unless project instructions specify coordination.
Labeling work types: text generation and evaluation/rating of model outputs.
Employment types: contractor, part-time.
Who Should Apply & How It Works
Apply if you have hands-on BI experience in Excel and enjoy explaining analytical choices in clear, repeatable language. This role suits BI analysts, Excel power users, and reporting specialists who want flexible remote work that directly impacts AI behavior.
To apply, create or sign in to your OpenTrain profile, complete any required qualification tasks, and submit your application through the project listing. Strong OpenTrain profile history helps you win more projects over time.
Experience level: Entry level (relevant BI skills valued over prior AI-labeling history).
Review AI-generated BI documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks for accuracy, rigor, and presentation, and deliver structured written feedback. Remote contract role (20+ hrs/week) paying $80–$120/hr for experienced BI reporting professionals.
