The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Brazilian Portuguese Audiobook AI Evaluator to assess AI-narrated audiobooks and support improvements to synthesized speech. You will listen closely to narration, identify errors and audio artifacts, categorize issues, mark their exact spans, and judge the overall listener experience.

The role is intended for native or near-native Brazilian Portuguese speakers who regularly listen to audiobooks and understand what makes narration natural, accurate, and enjoyable. This is an intermediate-level, remote freelance opportunity with an expected commitment of approximately 20 hours per week.

• Hourly compensation: $15-$20 USD

What You’ll Do

You will evaluate extended samples of AI-narrated audiobook audio and record consistent, detailed judgments using the available review tools. Your work will combine language evaluation, audio quality review, issue classification, and listener-experience assessment.

• Listen to AI-narrated audiobooks in Brazilian Portuguese
• Judge whether narration sounds natural, accurate, and enjoyable
• Identify skipped, added, or mispronounced words
• Detect incorrect number readings and incorrectly expanded abbreviations
• Flag unnatural phrasing and unusual or ineffective intonation
• Detect audio glitches and other synthesized-speech artifacts
• Categorize each issue and mark its precise span
• Rate overall listener satisfaction and identify where the experience breaks down
• Maintain attentive, consistent judgment across many hours of audio

Requirements

This role requires strong Brazilian Portuguese language ability, careful listening, and the patience to make accurate judgments during extended audio sessions. You should be able to explain findings clearly in working English and distinguish subtle differences in pronunciation, phrasing, intonation, and audio quality.

• Native or near-native fluency in Brazilian Portuguese
• Regular audiobook listening experience
• Working English sufficient to report findings and communicate with collaborators
• Ability to evaluate naturalness, pronunciation, phrasing, intonation, number reading, and listener experience
• Ability to identify, categorize, and precisely mark speech errors and audio artifacts
• Strong attention to detail, patience, and accuracy
• Experience with annotation, labeling, transcription, proofreading, linguistics, or comparable review work

Helpful Background

Prior experience is not required in every area, but relevant background can help you assess synthesized speech more precisely. Experience with AI training data, model evaluation, audio quality assurance, language, editing, voice, or audio production is useful.
